Forge BOV

I hear that were ok with the surge because of the ball-bearing designed turbo. Ok, I'm sold, someone get me a part number when they come out and I'm getting one. If you guys are using one now with no stalling, tell me which one to get and I'll get it. I need part numbers here fella's...thanks in advance.

I can live with a bit of turkey on the side...

Johnny

Most of the time the "turkey" sound, as you all call it, is wastegate flutter. This flutter becomes more apparent with additions such as boost controllers. A CAI or BOV (Vent to Atmosphere) project the sound much more.

There are currently two models of valves, BPV and BOV. The blow off valve is our DV004 which uses twin pistons to eliminate idle issues. We are making silicone transitions, 25mm-19mm, to incorporate this valve into the factory plumbing. The Forge recirculating valve (BPV) upgrade will bolt directly into the factory hoses and not need any extra hoses as it is manufactured with 19mm ports. We will have pricing and part numbers available over the next few days for those interested.

We are working on a Silicone hose upgrade kit for the intercooler piping and intake hose. Stay tuned for this also.

Sweet...ran into cory today at Chicfila. The BOVe sounds awsome. You hear the turkey with a gush of air. It is pretty loud (cory has a CAI). Scott has the BPV version so I hope to hear from him this weekend. The MSP sounds Badass...its like a TT MSP. I'll try to get sound clips if I bump into cory this weekend. All I can say is I will be getting one ASAP. Thanks forge! Hope you guys continue to help the MSP community!

the blow off souind isnt really loud like most other cars eg. eclipes, mr2, etc. But it does get lounder when you boost more.
they say you have to lub the pistion up every other oil change so around 6 thousand miles i guess. I lub mine up evey 5 thousand. Its very easy to lub and all you need is some grease.
I believe this bov is more of a performance valve then nice sounding one. The air is blown of 360 deg. around rather then in one direction. the pitch is really high and short.

I knew all along this turkey was not surge. I called Callaway and they also said this.

Forge - Keep us updated. Keeping all the piping and just adding this valve rocks, plus the price is right. So which gives the nice sound, the BPV ?

I am very interested!

I get it now...the BOV is available now but it doesn't go exactly like our stock one. The BPV is on it's way as a direct replacement......am I close here?

WEll...this is what i think. The BPV fit on the speed now. The BOV (the one I want) is being fitted with hose/adapters that can be used with our stock pipes (25mm-19mm). Installation looks really easy from what I've seen on cory's car.

Oh man, FORGE, let us know what part numbers and when the BOV kit is ready. I'll buy one right now if it's ready.....Let me know.. Oh man, i can't wait for the woosh/gooble/gooble.....

Please post sound clips over the weekend for us...whoever can...this would be great...posts of both the bov/bpv

this one is for you guys that dont have to have the external venting.

I spoke to forge about 1-2 weeks ago and they said they are working on a BPV that will fit in the stock location and look alot like this

and they told me its a turkey killer according to the MSP owners who are testing it.

it should be done by now or a week from now .....according to forge

I just talked to Cory & he still has the turkey with the BOV installed. I've had that same BPV/DV on my car for several months now (you can read my original thread about it HERE) & it doesn't get rid of the turkey either. I went outside earlier today & took these pics:

This is a great product, but I'm ready to change out for the BOV now. :D

try to get them to make a FMIC kit!
a huge ass one that fills up the whole front grill!
that would be s***!

omg I'm going crazy! I want to hear the turkey!!!! I have a turbo MP3 so I'm minus the turkey.

Scott: Hey bro, could you tell me which part number yours is, or should I wait for Forge to release the kit? I'm just getting anxious, being the weekend and all I don't have any projects going on right now, so I'm looking for something to keep me busy for next weekend.

I suggest you wait for them to release the kit. That way, any final details will be ironed out. It should only be a couple of weeks (I think).

But anyway, I do so love mine.

once again guys, to confirm......

no stalling with BOV, as i understand, because of the twin piston.
will there be a bracket made to hold the BOV in place and not stress the pipe?
is there still turkey with BOV?
how come turkey is eliminated with other BOV's (like HKS)?
wastegate opens the same if u have a BOV or a BPV, how come some people were able to eliminate it?

thanks

Stalling: None so far. I had it way up in 3rd gear and put it in neutral. It shiverred a little bit, but didn't stall.

Bracket: As of now, I don't beleive there is one. I just used some circular metal clamps to hold it to the little plastic flange. I'd imagine either a solution will be developed, or you can make something pretty easily.

Turkey: I was unaware that other BOV's eliminated the turkey sound. But It's very possible that the 2nd piston is creating a seal behind the vent, causing the compressor surge to exist.

Oh yes, as for sound clips, I beleive Cory was working on that. But if not I'll try something.
