Ford Transmission in our 6s ????!!

what kind of transaxle is used on the mazda 6?
its a duratec 3.0 so im assuming they mated with a ford trans??
which are ALL pieces of shatzz.. man first i had to deal with
my whole block being a domestic.. now the whole trans?? (boom02)
i know ford bought mazda but damnn when i buy a mazda
i expect am import not a freakin domestic.. especially a ford..
even the whole car is built rite here in the statess

First off Ford didnt by mazda ,Ford only has a 30% intrest in Mazda . Second the 6 only uses the Duratec block the rest is of the engine is Mazda design and build . . I believe the tranny is a Mazda design as well.

correctiom, Ford owns 33.4% of Mazda. And some other parts on the mazda 6 share Ford blood.

i know on the 2.5L V-6 DURATEC they mated a mazda trans..
only that specific block.. also used on probe gt countours
but on the 3.0L DURATEC i hear its a ford trans...
which is very bad news for all of us... =(

You shouldn't be so anti-ford off the bat..it definitely clouds your judgement and prevents you from actually learning about your car.

The upcoming 6 sp transmission (ya you could probably read about that too if you weren't so caught up on the whole "ford" thing), is also from an import manufacturer.

I won't take the time to point out how many high performance car's are using the 3.0 V6 Duratec (which was designed mostly by porsche), including one of the fastest car's you can buy for under 100k (and competes against 300k+ supercars...hint, its of noble breed.).

I concur with every word you just said especially the begining. DOnt mean to bash you MSs6g, we are all learning things here every day. I am anti ford myself in many areas but you learn to live with it and appreciate the few things Mazda has adopted from them.

FYI - the same or variants of the same Jatco tranny are used in all Nissans with the (much more pwerful) VQ engines.

And the vaunted BMW uses GJM trannies in their 3 and 5 series. get your panties outta that bunch

<edit> and that V6 Duratec block is a Porsche-based, Cosworth refined design. Excellent bloodlines. And reading about that Noble should get your panties wet again. Easily THE MOST reliable Ford engine EVER. Of course certain forum detractors are bound to jump in and remind us that the majority of Ford's few engine gremlyns are restricted merely to 2-3 series like the awful Vulcan (puke) in the Taurii and Windstars, and some iterations of other, older engines.

Just to let you know. The Probe GT's 2.5L V-6 is NOT a duratec block. Totally different. It was only used in the Contour and newer style Cougers.

The Probe GT's 2.5L V6 is a Mazda engine; The KL-03 (KL-ZE available in Japan)... So, sorry, but ya can't blame that one on Ford. =) Hehee.

yeah when you take your mazda engine to ford to get it fix...thats were the initial mistake was made. yes the car we replaced had a ford "Ticking Time Bomb" tranny. If the car works the way it's supose to then how will the dealership service dept make any money? the new ford tranny is supose to be like F350 super duty bulletproof and has a better mpg than a god dame manual...no times were posted yet to confirm if it was fast as or faster than manual. We all aen't fans of ford but give them at least an ounce of cedit.

shoulve seen that thread earlier.. very educational
i just had some fords in my life (99cougar&97mustangt)
and they both just did me so wrong.. with recalls
starter, alternator, fuel pump, water pump alternator alternator~ then tranny
dont know if you all feel me.. but when you buy a brand new car
you dont expect to replace all those parts as SOOn as warranty expires
i have this HUGE ASS paranoia with ford now and i will never buy one
within my lifetime or recommend to anyone.. no hate to ford lovers
im just an 200% import fan.. got a lil taste of that domestic..
and it was too bitter to me ..
def good to know 6s engine and tranny is in good hands..
