Pre-production prototype in Detroit

We saw the Flex Concept at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, and now we're seeing early pre-production versions driving all over Detroit! Since these all appear to be showroom ready, we wonder if this is a low-key PR move. The production version of Ford's all-new Flex won't arrive until the 2009 model year, although it will likely be an early entry in the 09 line-up. A two-tone version like the NY concept (with a similar look to the Mini and Toyota FJ) with a white roof will be offered, as well as a traditional monotone paint scheme as shown here all in white. In addition, the Flex will also offer an optional glass-roof version consisting of four separate "skylights". The Flex will come standard as a front-wheel drive SUV, with an all-wheel drive option available. Power is expected to come from a 3.5-liter V6 with a minimum of 260-horsepower. A hybrid is expected to arrive a bit later. Look for the Flex to arrive in dealerships during the first or second quarter of 2008.

I'm all set with SUVs and Minivans excluding the Mazda5. This looks like a Scion Xb.

Absolutely horrendous. I'm telling you, lately the american car companies have produce garbage in terms of style. I have no idea who buys them or why they sell..

i hope that big red button on the top of the dashboard is to stop any further production b/c that is going to BOMB!

I agree a scretched xB! If it came standard with RWD that woudl be pretty sweet. I Kinda like it btw but the ass end has to change

Really ford.. who the hell is going to buy this piece of crap, especially since it will have a nearly 30k pricetag.

I hate this look even more than I hate the look of the Caliber SRT and that is saying a lot.

Wow look at that, another butt-ass-ugly american car coming on the market (puke)

X2, just longer. Not bad looking, but I think I would buy something else.

Am I the only one that somewhat likes the styling? I think it's kinda cool looking, but I think it would have been better to make it smaller. It has proportions like the Jeep Commander and they look goofy as well.
