For the love of God, what's wrong w/ the Search?

OK, somebody help me out here, how do you get the search to accept a string w/ a space in it? Let's say I want to find "side airbags". I've tried putting in just that, side airbags WITH the quotes and the darned thing treats it like side OR airbags. I looked for help on the search page, but found nothing.

it seems like the quotes works for me when I search for side airbags. It doesn't highlight the exact search results, btw, just whatever instances of the words it finds.

I tried stock AND boost and it did what that usually does, gave me all the posts with both words in them. That's not what I want, I want the two words separated by a space just as I typed them. Otherwise you find about every post in the forum.
