For automatic braking, does it stop the car or give a warning?

A nephew is considering the Mazda CX-50. For the automatic braking, is it just a beeping flashing warning or does Mazda Smart Brake Support With Head-on Collision Mitigation stop the car?

Yes, it warns first and it does try to stop the car if you don't brake, but no guarantee that it will stop in time if travelling fast. Also, it tends to have some false positives, especially if a car is turning off the road in front of you.

Certain criteria has to be met. Can kind of suck when it dynamites the brakes when driving fast in curves because it detects the gaurd rail

I just turn on cruise control and it adjusts to the car ahead of me for speed. If it brakes, car brakes automatically and I help with extra if needed.
