fog lights - no fog

How are you planning on wiring them? I was thinking about doing this also, since I barely use my fogs, but hadn't really thought about the switch wiring.

i am going to wire them like any other light set up but i am going to plug them into the factory switch. if you want the piaa replacements let me know and i can hook you up.
they say they are a factory replacement but may require modification of the mounts. they dont say what kind of mod but htat its not hard to mount them

Here's the thing. The fogs are on with the low beams, and switch off with the high beams. That's completely opposite of what you want with the driving lights. Driving lights should be ON with the high beams, and off with the lows. I'm just not sure where in the wiring setup the "switch" is that turns the current fogs off with the high beams, and if I can just swap it around or what.

if you aim them right you could keep them on all the time. on my last car i had a pair or 6" hella 200,000 cp lights and i had them on all the time and no one flashed me because i aimed them right

Wow, really? I had big Hellas on my old Audi, and they would blind anyone in front of me unless I aimed them WAY down. But that completely defeats the purpose of the lights. I guess it depends on the light and where you mount it also.

Make sure you post when you get them on, I'd like to see the beam pattern and all that.

the fogs are weak as hell. I re aimed them on my MP3. It made a bit if difference but not much. I have always had fogs on all my cars. Kinda anal about it really. I just always want fogs. But now on the speed, I don't miss them much at all...why.....because their crap, and even more so with stock bulbs in. THe piaa's should be a little better. I had PIAA bulbs in my mp3, and with a proper aiming job, they were at least useful to some degree.

Anyone that has ever flashed me gets flashed right back. I'm in a small town, so I usually see the same people again. Once I flash them back...end of story :) They learned their lesson.

No car with fogs like ours are as annyoing as a damn ford F series truck. them things are aimed directly at eye level to anyone driving a car. Their the real problem, not us.

the fogs do nothin to oncommin traffic....if anything ive had my friends say they hate drivin in front of me cause the stock headlights are damn bright but thats the onle complaint i have had

A buddy of mine has E-code lights on his Audi Quattro. He has 100W highs, 80W lows and a set of 100W Hella driving lights on his front bumper. He flashed me once and I think the paint almost melted off my car.

Amazing thing about the E-codes is that even with 80W lows, there is NO glare to oncoming drivers.

I got my pilot PL-607's. They are driving lights, and they are very bright. I have them pointed down, and I still get flashed by other people. So I'm thinking its just the OEM headlights that are too bright, and they are. Compared to my '94 Corolla its a difference between night and day between the two cars headlights.

Imagine when the look on peoples face that flashed you, when you flash them back with the high beams, they'll just die.

I have no worries with other cars lights, or HID's...its those dam lifted trucks that scare me. Plus its nice when most of them tend to tail gate if when you are already going pretty fast...go to the right you dumbass and pass, don't make me change lanes just for your ass. For some reason I get a lot of them tail gaters, and I consider myself a fast driver 70-80 on the hwy normally.

the worst thing that happens to is when an suv pulls up behind me at a stoplight...their lights r aimed just at the right angle that when i look in my rear view mirrors, i get blinded...then of course there r those drivers like digitalpro said, that tailgate me when im already driving fast and proceed to turn on their high beams, causing the same blinding problems...so i adjust the mirrors and shine it right back to them...

Never thought about adjusting the mirrors, good idea...I'll do that too, and if they want road rage I'll give them road rage.

Forget which test it was but the Protege headlights came out near the top above some other higher price Luxary cars with HIDs.

Consumer Reports tested the headlights in all their cars tested in 2003 I think, and the P5's were the best of the bunch, which they were amazed at considering the price of some the cars it beat, and they aren't HID's. They're easy to adjust though, use a phillips screwdriver down the "slot" atop the 10mm bolt, it turns the gear like a pinion turns a ring gear in a diff.

the fogs arent blinding anyone except for raccoons and squirrels. if you want to blind suv and truck drivers. turn the gold screws on the back of the headlamps about 2 turns. then see how many people flash you. (evil)

ok ok im mostlikly the worst offender of this when i got my pro 5 it had hids in the fogs and they looked cool but i wanted more light so i have a set of CATz spot lights. with theHIDs in them i have had them in for 1 month and i have only been flashed once. They are aimed low but if i crest a hill wow damn will they shoot far ( about 4-5 blocks ) there ohnly 11 deg spred where the fogs are 90 so i can aim alot higher and not bothere other ppl. but they still light up about 80feet in fromt of the car the way they sit if i can ill try to post a pic if some one can tell me how.
