Fog light issue

Ok I have changed my bulbs in the fog lights a few times. Now I have noticed a re-occuring problem. The fog light will not go on unless I bang it a few times once the housing and everything is installed. I even went out one night and one shut off... I banged it a few times and boom it went back on.

Yes the wires are all properly connected and the clips at the right place but this has happened with the stock bulbs and the aftermarket ones. Dunno why...

anyone else have this problem....

only thing i can think of is a possible short in one of the wires? have the dealer check it out.

It's on both the lights.. if there was a short would that blow the bulb or the fuse for that matter?

What wattage are the bulbs, sometimes if you put aftermarket bulbs in that are too high in the wattage department, then you can damage the wires or even melt them.

35 watts I think... which is what my stock ones are....

My MP3 when I got it the fog lights worked at the dealer and then stoped by the time I reached home, about 5 minutes...car was in the shop for 2 days as they tried to trace the fault. They did not have a wiring diagram, so it was one wire at a time...turned out to be a screw that is too close to the wire and it would short out. The wire was located in the engine compartment. Make sure your dealer has a wiring diagram of the mp3 or you are in for a long wait.

My first line of thought whenever I have any issues such as this is to head down to my dealer to get them to fix it under warranty...saves me hassle of figuring it out and also ensures that any solution is also done under warranty.

That's weird your dealer didn't have the diagram Oliver...would have thought it mandatory for a dealership to have all the manuals for the cars they sell.

See the thing is every problem I have and is delt with the dealership. WEll I get home with a few more problems. That is the reason why I hate bringing my car there. I sit at work worried like hell as to what surprise I am going to get next. Soemtimes it takes me a few days to find it and by that time... the dealership will not do anything....

Oh well they seem to work now... and I am sure they will blame the aftermarket lights that are in there right now... so I will just let it be.. it's been about a week now and they still both work... if not I will get out and tap it again.. much cheaper fix then to take them apart go buy some more OEM fog lights and still have them not work.... that was a long night...
