has anyone attempted to painted the fog light cover and grill? i was thinking about having mine painted black to give it that shinny black look. i may also paint the rear plastic pieces black also. is this a good idea? anyone who has done this please post pics!

eeh I think it's a bad idea. Shiny paint/surfaces show more imperfections. Now, if you didn't ever drive it, then it would look good I think

i was also thinking about doing that im just not sure how it would look i want to see someone else do it before i do haha

I've seen it done and it looks awful. The black breaks up the large flat front bumper IMO, and it looks good.

see i would of though that painting the covers and the rear exhaust pipe panels a glossy black would of looked good. it would of gotten rid of that dull black look..but the black would then show all the nicks you would get from rocks hitting it ...idk

Ive seen it chromed. Over the past 2 years mine seems to have a dulled especially the black. I have to put plastic protectant on it every few weeks to make it look nice. The back would look good painted black. The front im not sure since the rocks may chip it.

i've seen LP speeds with LP painted rear. theres a pic of it somewhere in this forum, it looks GOOD, the front i dont think it would. Having a black speed doesn't call for this paint scheme, so this is my unbiased opinion.

Found this, I think this is the one we're all thinking of:

Maybe throw some smoked Rockblocker film on the fog lights? What look are you trying to accomplish?

I think the matte black breaks up the front bumper. One thing I've seen that I'm fond of is painting the upper grille (with the M in it) gloss or flat black on lighter colored cars, which really looks like it should have been like that.

To keep it from getting dull that stuff called Back to Black works really really well, I used to use it on my 02 Audi and it kept the plastic looking like new. Now I use it every so often on the MS6. You can get it at any place like autozone.

As for painting them, I agree that it may look worse. I think it would depend on the color of the car, and a factory match paint or not

i think on black or black cherry it would look good if u painted it to match the color of the car, i dont like how it came out in those pics though.(shrug)

thats a good idea steve painting the grill..or just going badgeless carbon fiber on our cars.

you see my idea look for my car would be to get rid of the black plastic look and paint it a glossy black along with the rear bumper plastic pieces. i just think the dull black look on the silver looks weird...i like it on the white and black ms6's...but not on the silver....i am just worried that it would look to gaudy

looks like ebay universal grill roll, i dont think gloss will look good at all, so far flat colors are doing all who try it justice. i agree as well about the fog covers dont look good, here try this.
