Fmic

I'm so sick of looking under my hood and seeing those ugly plastic pipes surrounding my nice chrome ingen CAI. I want to get hardpipes. Spool has them for like 400$ I think. I can afford that. Do you think I should just save up and get the whole FMIC? Can I upgrade a FMIC to those hardpipes later?

From whar I understand, Spool was bought out.. You may want to check with ION. I also think Corksport is coming out with hardpipes as well.

I'd go with ION because of the current circumstances, and also save up because if you did get just hardpipes they will not work with a FMIC kit.

You could also get the hardpipes now, and then save up (or make your own!) CO2 intercooler sprayer.

Just another option to think about.

Co2 inetcooler sprayer. Someone needs to do a how-to on that. Parts and prices included. That'll be sweet!

I thought someone already did?

Haha welcome to last year. Spool's FMIC wasn't all that appealing besides the fact that little cutting was involved (if any.) My main concern with it was that the pipes seem to hang real low...Ion's are nicely tucked behind the bumper...

Yeah, someone rigged up a paintball tank CO2 sprayer...he reduced his 1/4 mile by around 0.5 seconds if I'm remembering right.

yeah...I thought I remembered reading that too. Also, there was someone more recently that did a water spray to the Intercooler...it was something like $30 bucks total cost. I'm sure a search on Intercooler sprayer would bring something up.

iON does not sell just hardpipes they sell the complete FMIC package. Check out the latest issue of Turbo Magazine. They installed the iON intercooler and dyno'd it. A gain of about 13whp. That is with no other mods, not even flashed. With just a few more cheap upgrades I am sure you could gain about 25whp.

Good luck

This week, i should know how much the custom pipes i can get made are.
Should be less than 400 for hard pipes, and probaly 100 more for hard pipes and CAI style intake.
You could ship the guy a BOV and flange, or just have him fab it for the stock BPV..

If you plan on doing any more performance modifications to your car, save your money now and go for the ION FMIC.

It's kick ass.

If you buy hardpipes and then decide later on you want to do some upgrades, the stock intercooler has the potential to really hold you back, and then all of a sudden your out $400 more then you need to be when you have to buy a FMIC kit and replace all those hard pipes you bought because the routing is different.

jrodhotrod speaks the truth. Kind of a waste of money for hard pipes with the stock intercooler. You will have to upgrade sooner rather than later and the hardpipes for the stock intercooler will be useless.
