Trailblazer SS AWD ....Still a Mazda Junkie Though.
Hey all! i told everyone a few days ago about my plans for possible production of a FMIC kit that i will be working on and if all goes well producing for more enjoyment of our MSP's!(2thumbs)Well it looks like we are still on to begin work on sat. 4-5-03.
But wait, theres more !Now as of Fri. the 4th i should have my test pipe done(yippy)If people are interested in either of these i need to know some numbers.1938374645 J/K!

But thats not all! We are gonna check out making a new downpipe for this beast too!We are gonna check it out on Fri. also and take some measurements to see what we got to work with.

Not sure on any kind of prices yet (what it will actually cost you)but if i can get some people who are serious so i can get with my guys and let them know what kind of response im getting from the MSP world then hopefully by Sun. i can get some rough estimates on pricing.I didnt get too many responses to the last post so im not sure what you guys are thinking about this????

If you guys got any Q's,post 'em.you might even want to go back a few days and look at my other post on this subject 'cause it might answer them for you Thanx guys ,let me know!(hear ya)

ok cool. here we go some serious mods. :) well i'm really interested in the dp right now. in the future i would LOVE to have a front mount (don't got the cash for that yet). i'de like some quotes on the dp and the fmic kit. also we were talking about keeping the bumper supports/reinforcements with the fmic, any news on that? i'm assuming that the test pipe would include a gasket, flange and bolts? overall, you got my respect and i give you props.

OK,like i told you guys before ,I dont do anything half-a$$....
When i buy a product i want to take it out of the box and get to town installing it(what do you guys think)I dont want to get something home to find out that it didnt come with what i needed or in some extreme cases doesnt even tell you where to get it or what size to get either!!!(if it didnt come with it??)No ,if we get this going i hope we will be able to work around all the stock components and mounting holes(i dont like to hack up cars!)unless there is no other option:confused: The test pipe will come with whatever hardware is needed as will any other component i produce

NOW WHAT DO THINK ABOUT THAT???

i will buy anything for the mazdaspeed.... seriously... right when something manufactured comes out that improved hp/performance its comming to my door. Just start making the stuff already LOL (injen)!!

Just to let you guys know that all of this stuff is in the prliminary stages but it shouldnt take us long to get it going and possibly into production(WARP SPEED is always good!)I only decided to take this project on because im tired of waiting on people to make things and my shoulder is getting sore from holding the phone for hours on end talking to companies that dont have an answer to whether or not they will make us products!!!(argh) My post from 3-28-03 (newbie and some quick q's) has more detailed info on the FMIC,but as for prices ,i wont know till we decide on a few factors(piping sizes, intercooler brand and size, hardware ,and actual time to make each kit,etc..)So everyone be patient and i will feed you info as soon as i get it ,aight LATA!

Now as far as the down pipe(I dont think the FMIC matters) will it be smog legal or "off road use only" like most companies?? In my opinion, it doesn't matter which way you go. I'd still put it on. If you can get a huge gain by keeping it "off road only", then I'll just have to re-install my stock downpipe every2-3 years for smog. No big deal to me.

Both a downpipe that replaces the first cat and a test pipe (for second) would not meet CARB. The test pipe is a 5-minute switch, so that's no problem, the DP could take a bit longer.

I would imagine that both will be "off-road" only. Whether your inspector is smart enough to notice the 1st cat is gone is another issue. Once the engine is warm, you should pass the sniffer test with just the 2nd cat, but would not pass visual if the inspector noticed the absent 1st cat.

But as we all know, it's easy to pass inspection if you're just willing to do a little engine work the night before.

I'd be willing to buy downpipe and test pipe. LMK when you get final pieces together I'm ready to purchase. As for the FMIC I'd be interested too but I'm afraid with such a small turbo...a very big intercooler can ruin the efficency of the turbo.

What's the diameter of the test pipe and downpipe 2.5" or 3"?

Any chance for straight thru 3" exhaust system too?

ForcedFed, Downpipe count me in. test pipe. dunno, i might run a high flow cat. unless the price is good. Deffinitly count me in for the downpipe.

Hit me up on AIM ilovemyspeed later, Im in pittsburgh and could come out to dayton for some test mule stuff too. (especially if it means free stuff or deep discounts :D ) Plus you did pm me about something but aint responded to me bro. :D

Thanks man.

I would be interestind in the fmic the test pipe i dont know about but the down pipe would be nice too.

Lucy!

Ok start a splaining to me Lucy.
Cause Ricky is mui Confused.
lets play what is...
1. Down pipe.
2. Test pipe.
3. Crack Pipe.

I have built small block chevy motors in the past so I am familiar with exhuast systems in general. However, this turboed, slanty-eyed stuff is all new to this poor ol White boeey.
A line drawn illustration would be nice with perhaps narration by either Gumby or Barney.

Thanks...

Barney does slope speed...Or Rice Speed for Dummies...

Downpipe is section that goes from exhuast side of the turbo to the cat.

Test pipe is replacment of cat with a straight thru pipe. Harms enviroment and can possibly fail smog test if you have it in your area.

Crackpipe is a clear cylinder in which crack is placed on top of a screen at one end and then inhaled in on the other end.

By doing a bigger diameter downpipe, test pipe and exhuast combo you can yeild some nice power gains especially on forced induction cars.

guys lets be serious, call me cheap but the best thing that you could do for exhaust and hp gains is to put a dump valve before the main cat period, I don't give a **** what any of you say, if you come to a line and hear me pull the nob, you will know immediately what my intentions are. for 50 bucks and a welder you are in business. maybee it's feasible for me cause I have access to a NGS tester and can reset any code that it sets. It can be scilenced by shutting the valve, no worry about emissions, or the cop that hears you racing a loud na car, when he pulls you over just tell him it couldn't have been you cause your car is quiet as s***

Dumpy Do

So RX do you have some eletronic actuator that opens and closes the valve while your in the driver's seat?
Man that has got to be insanely loud.
