FMIC idea for the MSP, check it out! GI!!!

Okay, I've been doing some thinking...

I really want a FMIC that's the long and slender style such as the hiboost or ion, but not too big like the perrin or mam. Only problem is I'm looking for a short way to run the pipes, and also, no cutting to install. I came up with the idea based on the same concept as a twin turbo kind of end tank setup. 2 in, 1 out... Only it would be 1 in, 1 out on the same end tank side...

This is what I came up with:

Pic #1: It will look something like this.

Pic#2: (don't laugh) it was done with paint shop, took 5 min.

The pipes would be ran short. The hot side would have to be made from scratch. For the cold side you maybe able to use the **********.com cold side pipe. Of course the pipes will be made from Aluminum!!! 2.5 or 2.25, whatever is better...

I've talked with Cullen from **********.com, haven't talked to Ken from protegegarage yet, so hopefully someone will be able to get something like this produced...

That's not exactly gonna be the most optimal design, that 180 degree turn is gonna cause friction and a noticeable pressure loss. It would work, but just not nearly as efficient as straight through intercoolers with a little more pipe work. That's my general opinion, but I've just gotten my msp and am not too familiar with how much piping that could cut off.

yea and you didn't exactly 'come up' with it. they're all over ebay. so no one has to work on getting it produced, you can just buy it! ;)

Yeah pretty much just like this:

But "skinnier." More long like.
Also, it must be separated in the middle so the air travels through the whole intercooler. The air would travel like a C shape...
And where the pipes would attach to would be 90* on the side of the end tank. So it would work with the stock cold pipe...

I think FM did this on their kit didn't they? Anyways, try fitting a normal FMIC on your protege and you'll see that this wont be easy...
