This is a general statement and not aimed at any specific person...
Driving is a priveledge, not a right. If you can't understand this, you should have your license taken away from you.
As car tuners, yeah, it seems that the world is against us. But that's the price we must pay for choosing to modify our vehicles. If I get pulled over for a loud stereo, odds are, it's because my stereo is turned up. I chose to not follow the rule and will have to pay the price of my negligence. No sense complaining about it when it's my own fault I couldn't follow a simple enough rule.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I think it's ridiculous the amount people complain about law enforcement officers without having the slightest knowledge of how the system works.
I am not denying the fact that my stereo was on. I am not denying the fact that yes it was turned up about 3/4 of the full volume of the factory radio. I am not denying that the fact that my windows were down makes the sound travel further.
But yes I am complaining, and whining, and throwing a fit, and pouting and whatever other "::insert adjective here::" that you choose to use. But I am not complaining about the fact that there is a law about it. I am complaining about the fact that it is such a restrictive law to a point almost where no matter what way you face you are pissing in the wind.
The FACTORY exhaust in an Infinity G35 or Nissan 350Z is louder than my exhaust. Yet I am in the wrong because I ordered mine from somewhere other than the dealer. And yes my radio was loud. But 25 feet? Are you kidding? The law could easily be just a beneficial if it was 100 feet. Or 100 yards. Now obviously blasting your radio in a residential area at 2 in the morning is very dick. But to be enjoying my music on a leisurely cruise home on a road that has 6 lanes and thousands of cars pass over it every day in which there is not a single house located even remotely NEAR me, nor a business that could hear my factory speakers let alone be bothered by the sound coming from them?
This law is not about 'common courtesy' to other drivers. This law is about conservative politicians and bitter people. I can place 20$ down, that every single person on the road that complains about one thing or another, does AT LEAST 1 or 2 things that annoys other people as well. Personally I cant stand when people are blabbing away on their cell phones, because they dont pay attention and I have actually been a witness TWICE because someone was blabbing on their cell phone and either clipped someone changing lanes without looking because they couldnt turn their head that way without disturbing their 'oh so important gossip fest', or rear ended someone because it was more important to listen to their phone call than worry about the safety of themselves, or others around them while they drive more or less wrecklessly so they can be on the phone.
I am not saying I personally have never answered a phone call while driving. That is what an ear piece is for. I also choose to limit my phone calls to VERY brief intervals, and if I cant I pull over somewhere and park and finish the conversation then go back on my way.
There is no such thing as common courtesy on the road anymore. Everyone has their own selfish intent in mind. They speed so they can get home so they dont miss the game thats on TV. They run stop lights so that they can not have to sit for 2 more minutes on the road. They cut people off because they dont feel like they should have to wait in a longer line of traffic.
I listen to my music loud because it keeps me calm. It keeps me from hating every single selfish ass thats out on the road. It also keeps my mind off the fact that if someone were to run into me, they would care more about the time they are losing from their all important day than the well being of the person they just ran into.
You want to pass laws. Fine. But pass them on the areas that they need to be passed on. Laws of road rage are weak. Laws on accidents are weak. But they have time to pass obscene laws of music volumes?
Why does this seem more like a quick money scheme than an actual intent to provide a more "ENJOYABLE" driving experience.
So say what you will. My music was loud. But at 25 feet it could have also still been illegal even with my music turned down. So does that mean I should have to drive with my radio off because some bitter people dont like the noise? Well if I chose to be bitter as well you would not be allowed to smoke while driving, talk on your cell phone while driving, eat while driving, play with your makeup while driving, talk to other passengers while driving, or hell for s**** and giggles - fart while driving.
Making laws is a privelage, not a right. When you make and enforce pointless laws before you enforce the serious things that NEED to be enforced...you make yourself and the entire justice system look like a bunch of greedy asses.
But to each his own right?
