Flip Key vs. Regular Key

I have an 07 MS3 with the flip key. My problem is that I want the regular key like I had with my 09 Mazda 3 Sport. I went to my local dealership and they said it is impossible. But, I seem to remember somebody on here accomplishing this. I just got my Viper alarm installed and the 2 remotes on one key chain is picking my ass something aweful. I only need the key to start the car. I don't need the door lock/unlock/panic BS...I just want the ignition key and my alarm remote (as well as my other house keys). Does anybody have a clue on how I go about this? Or maybe a site or link they can direct me too? I am getting quite sick of all the chunkiness in my pocket. Please help!!!

Wife drives a 09 Mazda 5 that comes with a flip key/remote all in 1, and i had the local mazda dealer cut a regular key that resembles (fits) my 05 MZ3, then I programmed the new key for the MZ5 myself. My 3 came with a key and seperate fob for the auto lock, but I don't carry the fob as its too lumpy in my pocket as well. You will need 2 functioning keys to program the new key yourself, even tho the dealer will tell you that the service dept must program the new key for ~$75 or more.

As sad as it is, the above will not work with the Mazdaspeed3. Some chinese companies have come out that allow you to cut and reprogram your own key and put it in their case, there was a big discussion on this on the other forum (Mazda 3 Forums)..

^ Are you serious??? So I am stuck with this ridiculous lump of remotes when all I need is a key out of one of them? Surely, there is SOMEBODY that has found a way to get around this!! All I need is the ignition key and the little chip!!!

I live in Canada and I have never seen a Speed 3 without the flip key. So, what you're saying is you guys have the regular key down in the States? SWEET!!! That means I can ditch this flip key BS after all!!!!

I would LOOOVVVE to have the flip key option.. I hate the big fat ass key, and the big fat ass remote too.
Not to mention its the same remote as I had on my P5.. I feel like im driving the same car..lol

yeah you're dealer is full of it and doesn't know what he's talking about. All North American Mazda 3's use the same transponder chip across the board (actually most Mazda's in general except the tribute since it's actually a ford). So you can buy a standard transponder key and as long as you have two working keys you can program the new key yourself in about 10 seconds. You need part number F1Y1762GX.

Got it...Did it...And it works mint! **** the flip key bulls***!!! No more flip key BS for me!!! Thanks man!!!
