In my opinion, if you are charged more than $100 per tire you are getting ass *****. You should just walk into their business backwards and pull your jeans down. Oh yeah, take one for there team. LOL

Dood, you can never find a tire for this car under 180$ CAD, there is no way and at that price, they are probably really bad.

yeah ypu will get those tires like on my old neon....those cheap tires that never loose tread even after butnouts and 180 degree(U-Turn) ebraking and when it rained every painted line might as well have been black ice! get tires that will grip then last in that order.

In response to unrepairable tires

Any tire can be unrepairable even if a Small nail/screw punctured the tire.
Number one cause of unrepairable tires is what the professionals call a heat ring. In simple words it means the tire was pretty much flat and the sidewall was rubbing up against the lip of the wheel on both sides. Usually what happens in the inside of the tire starts to fall apart(tire gets ground to black dust). If you ride on it long enough it will eventually eat through the sidewall and the tire will completely seperate. The angle of penetration by said object can also cause unrepairability. Suppose the screw/nail is approx 2-3inches long and enters the tread about 1/2 inch away from the outer edge, but the angle actually puts the nail/screw into the sidewall area dmging it from the inside. This compromises the structural integrety of the tire itself and it will eventually fail either from seperation or Bubbling( basically a huge bubble sticking out of the sidewall). You also have to consider the wear on said tire. Either too low tread, secondary rubber, etc.

whenever you go in for a tire repair, ask the technician doing the repair to let you see the object that caused the problem. Also if they say there is a problem with your tire and cannot be repaired, ALWAYS ask to see the tire and have them explain WHY it is not repairable.

Sndsgood - I would never recommend plugging a sidewall, you risk TOTAL tire failure. It's best to get a better used tire AT LEAST.

I second the falcons also. Great tire!

yeah if you are going for an all season tire then yeah falkens...summer "spirited Driving" tires I say Toyo T1-S's

i wouldn't reccomend it either, just saying i done it lol. this was also back when i was young and broke of course.

t1-s youlle roughly 10k out of them. their grippy but dont last for squat. fz4 are good for around 45k +

even though he's in cananada 300 seems way high thats like 180 american, or somewhere in that range, for that price i can get a new tire for one of my 19's

300?? (Works out to about $225 USD) - That is steep! I just got a quote from a local dealer for 4 Falken ZE512 215/45/17's, installed balanced, levies and taxes (14.5%) for $1026. Not sure what the levies are worth, but before taxes (and including levies, mounting, balancing and rotations for the life of the tires) thats 224 CAD per corner. I'm pretty sure those are a much better tire than the GY's.

Really??? Thats a killer price. I called 7 or 8 tire dealers (including a few on the mainland) and the lowest was in town for that price.. they went as high as 1400 out-the-door.

Hmm.. maybe I should wait and do some more shopping. Did you get yours at a chain or a local shop?

In Alberta, there's only the GST right? Not that it would make a huge difference adding on our Prov'l tax - about $40. Maybe the levies are $100 per corner here ;)

Thanks!
Bart

I got 'em at a local shop, but they run a huge warehouse.

Then again, my uncle works for Toyota and got them at cost for me.

Regardless, the price should be around 190 each, so you'd probably be paying around 800 plus GST, PST, levies...

I can see it being around 1000+. Too bad though, it would be nice if everyone had family who could hook them up with car parts.
