Flashing the Computer

I was at the delearship doing my 15k service and a fellow Speed owner asked me if I had them "Flash the computer" yet. I told him no and he said to have them do it because it would make the car faster. Is there any validity at all to what this guy told me? Would the dealership even do this? Any suggestions/comments? I don't want to hear about modding the car as I don't plan on doing anything that will void my warranty. Thanks guys.

definately flash your car.....articles show it does improve the overall performance of the car. as for the improved HP......thats debatable....just my .02 cents worth. my car is flashed and i noticed a HUGE difference, i say go for it!!

If you are stock, and want to remain stock, flash it. If you want to mod, including more boost, etc. No reason to flash it. The car will lean it self out and will feel better.

That is not 100% true...My car still hesitates like a b**** even with ugh...you know?

Thats one thing i dont get. Why are the so many differences in the performance aspects of this car. Same parts, same motor, blah blah blah. Doesnt make much sense.

I dont get it either..But I will tell you what,my car has always had a horribble case of hessi!

Well, I had Mazda flash the computer and I am impressed with the results. Seems to shift much smoother, better acceleration. I am very pleased. Thanks guys.

That's the result of a 4cyl and the mounts. Has nothing to do with the fuel/timing.

What will having the computer flashed do that would be bad for follow on mods? I am stock now. I have no problems with hesitation and get about 6.7psi. I have a F/A ratio gauge and boost gauge. May do mods later. I flashing something the dealer will do for free?

Yep, it's free. It takes about an hour once they start, and is actually pretty simple. Plug in the ECU to their computer, download, and bingo - all done.

I'm glad I got it done. Driveability was greatly improved and acceleration is much smoother. Gas mileage seems to be a little better, too.
