flash probs

Ok, tried to get the reflash done today. Called up the service manager at Al Smith Mazda in Raleigh. Spent AN HOUR on the phone with him. He says that proteges built after the update was released should already have the new flash. I'm like...uhhh my car has a wicked bad hesitation, bucking, etc. don't think it has it. And after an hour of searching using every means possible, i.e. the file name, all the info i could get from the ECU thread, etc., he is finally just calling Mazda Tech about it. Any suggestions on how to help him find it? He was very nice and helpful, he just couldn't find the damn thing or ANYTHING about it. Thanks.

Had the same problem with City Mazda here in Greensboro, NC. Service Manager called up Mazdausa and found what we were looking for.

I had the same problem with my dealership.

I wanted to go to Donald Craig (in Mooresville, NC), because it's only 5 minutes from my house.

Unfortunately, I played runaround with those idoits for a week. They kept telling me basically that I was crazy and that there was no flash. Finally, I called Harrelson Mazda in Charlotte, and they said "oh yeah, we have the flash".

Fucken bastards.

I just called http://www.donaldcraig.com and they now know about the flash and will do it and they are waiting for the CD.

I get pissed when you guys/gals try and get your car flashed/fixed and people give you the run around. I was real nice to the guy but firm, if he had really tried to be a penis I would have gone off but in a very professional manner. You guys need any help calling dealerships let me know. I can be very pursuasive (sp) on the phone.

ok, I'm making progress

Alright, so at this point AL Smith is no good to me. I called up Ashley at Capital Mazda in Cary(thanks CarlM2) and he said i had to get authorization from mazdaspeed. I was like that sounds like something you should do. He said it was the customer's obligation. All of this was very polite, of course. So now i need to somehow get authorization from Mazda USA or Mazdaspeed. How the heck do I go about doing that?

This tool is telling me that it needs to be released by the EPA, I just flat told him he is wrong and to check again and I will hold.

Yea tool is the best way to describe this guy. Now all of a sudden they do have the CD and they CAN do them. Right now I'm at 860-403-6969.

I told him "my guy" friend whatever....is going to call him back and get it done. He's also saying they need to reproduce the problem which again is BS. When you call back ask for the shop forman, tell him the run around you have been getting and tell him you just want it done. period.

ProMazda does alot of buisness with Parks Mazda & they know us pretty well. Told them what needed to be done & Ghost brought the car in same day. No problem.

My service department pulled that same crap, the manager told me after i said that I could get it done a hour and half away, "Well it sounds like you know where you need to take it then don't you?" I'm gonna call the bosses there (since I know half of them on a first name basis), then call Mazda NA, try to get the guy fired, or free oil changes or something.

alright, I've got it.
Thanks to all the help of you guys, I finally got the service manager from Al Smith Mazda to bow down to me. He called one of the mazda USA guys during a national mtg(or so he says) and figured out how to get me the flash. So I'm getting it done Tuesday, without an evaluation or whatever. Oh, yeah. The WDS Update you need is 27/6, NOT 24/7. The 24/7 is about 6 months old!!! So I'll finally get this flash.

on a side note, I drove an RX8 today. Apparenty I am the only person crazy enough to have actually pushed the limits of that car on a test drive. The dealer found it quite amusing. (I oversteered on an entrance ramp at 75-80 or so). Not very dramatic, but he thought it was cool. Maybe I'm the only one dumb enough not to realize I'm in a 30,000 car. (werd) But here's the interesting thing: I swear to god my car is faster!!!! A stock , unflashed MSP is faster than Mazda's top-of-the-line sportscar!?? I was quite amazed. Also not nearly as much fun to drive!!! Very surprising!!!

Harrelson Mazda, flash ready and very nice to work with. Service with a smile! Rep told me Craig Mazda did not want to deal with this and was sending people to Charlotte if they could.
