My 2011 CX-9 needs some anti-freeze in the reservoir. It says to use FL22 coolant. Is this a Mazda specific coolant? I have seen in other threads that some people have used other long life coolants. Are there any other coolants that are safe to use with the CX-9? The Mazda FL22 seems kind of expensive.

Ford sells Motorcraft coolant, part # VC-10-A or VC-10-A2 (concentrated). It is same as FL22, but a bit cheaper, especially the concentrated one.

Thanks. The VC10A2 is $37 on Amazon. Where can I get these cheaper?

At the risk of your water pump failing, don't wander too far from the Ford slime they use in our cars. My opinion is they build the water pump around the coolant lol.
