Has anyone attempted doing the timing chain cover leak on an 2018 CX-5 themselves ?

My son's high mileage CX-5 GS comfort has the leak .. currently topping up oil as needed. We spoke to one of the Mazda techs and he said it was a common problem

We have all the parts to do it apart from the stupidly expensive engine support tool Mazda says to use in the instructions on how to do the fix

I'm wondering if anyone else has used an alternative to that support tool .. something like this (we would need to get this shipped to Canada from UK)
Laser Tools 8749 Deluxe Engine Support Beam 500kg

For something like this would cost around $500 CAD compared to the $5000+ for the official Mazda tool

Or this one .. more pricey

There are cheaper ones on Amazon like this
VEVOR Engine Support Bar 1100 Lbs Capacity Engine Transverse Bar Engine Hoist 2 Point Lift Holder Hoist Dual Hooks, Engine Hoist Keeps Engine Stable for Home Garages & Auto Repair Shop : Amazon.ca: Automotive

I saw this mentioned on other sites in regards to the extra legs on the official tool "The Mazda fixture has legs up front to prevent movement and also additional support" .. so I'm concerned the cheapy two leg version wouldn't work so well.

Note: My son is an Auto tech so paying more for a fairly decent support tool he could use for other vehicles makes sense .. not just a one off fix for the CX-5, he is also keen to do the fix for experience .. for better or worse :)

Any advice would be appreciated .. Thanks
