Fish Tank Pics

I also got a Figure 8 puffer.... Within a day he chewed to dorsal fins off of all three of my catfish and he ate ed's tenticles (they are rapidly groing back).

I put the puffer in the little tank and moved the guppies to the 55 gal where the catfish ate tham instantly.

ahhh.... the drama that is my tanks...

I think that I am going to put the puffer in a tank in my new office... probably a 46 gal bowfront(not yet purchased).

Anyone have Japanese Koi (aka carp)?

We had them in our pond at my mom's house. Unfortunately they and the goldfish were really stupid. The neighborhood cats would tickle the water and they'd swim up and get eaten.

wow this thread is old. the tank in the first post no longer exists. we now have a 75gal reef tank.

New to forums and found this thread. Soooo...

Here are my oscars. I read were someone fead their oscars live fish. That's not recommended. They will develope a disease called hole in the head. Oscars tend to live for about 25 years. Mine are about 6 years old.
Also, I recently switched from an undergravel filter to a canistor filter. Went with an Eheim 2215. Nice and quiet.

It's a 75 gallon. I will be putting a black vinyl backing in a couple of weeks when the store gets the order in.

I have read that oscars will eat just about anything. Mine seem picky though. Just feed them pellets. Sometimes I will treat them to some ghost shrimp (live). But not live fish. Heck, if you really liked the oscars. Give it another go.

Yeah I mixed live with pellets also. I had them for a few years but I can't buy any right now because I purchased a puppy. I can't gaurantee the same love for the oscars.

I want to get a saltwater tank and some clown fish. Do you have to clean saltwater tanks often? Also is there any special tips on carring for clown fish??

I think I was told they were high maintenance, plus very expensive unless you buy a 1 gal tank with one clown fish..

Ideally for clowns you'll want to set up a reef (live rock, deep sandbed, calcium reactor, protein skimmer, refugium and high lighting like metal halides or T5's.) And yes nemo should have an anomonie. And the most sucessful would be a bubble tip. Check out reefcentral.com, biggest saltwater forum with TONS of info.

I have a 90 gallon reef that has been up for nearly a decade. I also have a 30 gallon freshwater planted tank. I inject CO2 into the water for the plants. They grow like weeds!

From what I understand, salt water is high maintenance. And uses a completely different filtration system. Check out this site http://saltaquarium.about.com/ Salt water aquariums are nice though. Wouldn't mind having one myself. Just don't have the time or money for it now.

edit: What he said. (cool)

Hmmm... Yah that sounds like way to much maintinance and money for me right now as well. Thanks for the info though guys
