I am the Proud, and somewhat frustrated, Owner of a 2009 Mazda RX-8 Sport, in Manual.
I came across the car with a friend at Auction, an insurance Write off. The car had been damaged in an accident, and the rear subframe and most of the suspension was in very bad shape.
Over the last 9 months, we slowly put it all back together in the garage. And 2500$ later, (plus 1500 for the chassis) I finally, own a car I have been meaning to buy, probably since GT3/4.
It is STILL, not entirely right, and likely won't be for a while yet. No matter, I am all in on this car at this point, and even if it takes a few years to get it right, thats fine by me.
I am, frankly, a busy man, and this is a hobby, and a bit of a pursuit of passion for me. So i won't be able to wow anyone with fancy youtube content.
The issues still abound, the rims are... a little rough, an axel or wheel knuckle is rubbing something it shouldn't, the car's fuel pump chokes when it hits 1/4 tank, and just recently, the car decided to brake something in the clutchpack, and it stalls out if you let the clutch out past the bite point even in neutral. All challenges, that can be addressed 1 at a time.
Yes, I knew this could, and would be a challenge, and i bought into it. I searched high and low, for a car in reasonable condition and was unsuccesssful in getting anyone to sell for anything less than 10k. So, i took a chance on this cheap chassis, as MOST of the RX-8s around here are dead Gen 1's with blown seals, and autos.
Now that is out of the way, i look forward to your heckling, and your hazing, well into the future.
