When is it due for First service?
The dealer at the time pf purchase said 6 months or 5K miles.

But I got an email from service department at around 3 months.
I called the service department and they said come when it is 6 months or 5K miles.

I'm at 1,600 miles. I'm taking mine in around 3,500. My service department told me the same thing yours told you. But I feel better going in a little early.

7,500 miles, go with what Mazda recommends not the dumbasses at the dealership.

Mazda has two recomendations. A 5,000 mile and a 7,500 mile recomendation depending on your driving conditions. Personally, I went in early at ~ 3,000, which may be a waste of money but, I feel better. Ed

Salesman told us to do the 5,000 mile interval since we fell into one or more of the categories requiring the higher maintenace level.

The CX-5 does use synthetic oil so it should be fine at a 5,000 mile change interval.

Im getting mines serviced tomorrow at 5,000 miles. I spend about 1-2 hours a day / 5 days a week in stop and go traffic, so im going with service 2. And the first service is free.

I'm gonna go in early at 3K miles for the free synthetic change and then go with Schedule 1 after that with my Amsoil.

My dealer uses Castrol GTX bulk which is a SYN-BLEND in 0/5w-20 grade even though they call it a synthetic on the work order. They don't use the good Mazda 0w20 wtih Moly which only comes in quarts even though Mazda recommends its as the best. Stinkers.

When I bought the CX I asked a service adviser if they use the Mazda 0w20 with oil changes and he said they use Castrol oil.
Castrol is a sponsor of Mazda racing and that's the reason. You probably can request the Mazda oil at an extra charge but who knows if they'll actually use it.I wouldn't trust any dealer service with something like that.
Mazda 0w20 is highly rated on the www.bobistheoilguy.com forum.
I'm going to ask for synthetic Castrol Edge OE for an extra fee and I probably won't get that oil.
The service adviser gave me a rebate card on a Castrol change and there's a $20 rebate for Castrol Edge OE,$10 for GTX blend and $7 for dino GTX.

Autonation? I took mine in last Friday with 5k miles for a free first oil change and check up. Today I got an email saying I have an appointment for Aug 1 at 9 am. Phishing for business as the service department at the dealership had no appointment and said it probably came from corporate headquarters in Ft. Lauderdale FL.

My salesman had me sign a paper for a free oil change as part of the deal. I didn't ever ask for it.

I have a paper I signed that says 'First Appointment'.It is scheduled 90 days after the day of my purchase.
I don't know what the appointment is for.Maybe an free oil change.
I'll call when I get closer to the date.

take it in early... new cars have additives in their oil to allow the oil to sit around longer...secondly, who knows how long the oil has been sitting before u bought the car? I took my mazda2 in at 2500 for the free first oil change... tht was the last time i took it in for an oil change as I do it myself

I am keeping the good factory fill (Mazda 0-20 with Moly) as long as possible. The 7500 mile mark is where I think will have an oil change.

I'm curious to know which SWFL dealer: Ft Myers, Naples, or Punta Gorda?

What kind of first free oil changes, are you guys talking about?

I got a package of coupons from my dealer good for 6 free oil changes when I bought (leased) my CX-5. I have 1800 miles over 2 months in mostly city driving on mine.

I will take it in @ 5000 miles for its first service as recommended by my usage - not sooner, not later. These coupons are good for the oil change service only - not the rest of the checkup.

I got a free first oil change to from my dealership where we bought our CX-5.
We currently do maintenance in a different dealership, only because it is closer to us. I asked them about synthetic oil with Moly. The service advisors did not know what I am talking about. They told me they use Castrol. When I showed them an Image of Mazda oil with Moly on my phone, they suggested I buy Moly additive. However, after some research I concluded that it is much better to get good formulated oil which includes Moly then to just add Moly to some other oil.
Next time, I'll try to see if I can get my original dealership to offer Mazda oil + Moly, but I am skeptical.
