Ok, so this guy comes into my office hocking 4 oil changes from Firestone for $25 - a promo from the company. So I get it b/c I figure (like the other sheep in America), hey! 4 oil changes for $25 is pretty cheap - I'll get this for my car, it need an oil change anyway. Call up the hubby and he's like NOOOOOOO they use crap oil and crap filters, you don't want to use that on your car b/c it will F it up. Is this true? I mean, I trust my hubby but damn, are Firestones and Jiffy Lubes and the like really that bad? What do you guys think?

Firestone just gave me a car to build for sema to debut their new suspension system and some new tire, so they cant be all that bad.

My brother took his car in to Jiffy Lube for an "express oil change" so I went up there with him and we waited for a while.. He got his (new silverado-3k miles at the time) truck back and we drove back to our house.. His truck died on 35 with smoke coming out of the bay. They left the cap off of the oil filling hole and all of the oil had "blew" out of the engine as he was driving. Truck locked up and they did NOT fix it. He's still (1 1/2 years now) working with lawyers/going to court/etc to get his truck covered.

My personal experiance w/ Firestone and J.L., hav`nt been really good ones.

I once went to use firestone for them to change a water pump on my 90 celica GTS (my father had an account w/ them, so it was virtually free). Not only did the morons use the wrong size water pump, but they also left my engine block off-set, rubbing against the shotgun side!!!! After driving my car for a period of 5 miles, I had this hellacious vibrating coming from the right side of the vehicle. I brough it back and they tried to tell me that my car had a cracked exhaust pipe and that I had a cracked radiator!!! After looking at the car myself....I pointed out to them that my block was still off-set, and that their work on my water pump was piss poor!!!

They finally fixed my block off-set, and put the PROPER water pump in. And also left a huge scratch and dent in the right front fender!!! I brought this to their attention and they denied everything!!!

After this crap....I vowed never to do anything w/ Firestone!!!

As for Jiffy Lube....these people are infamous for leaving oil caps and dip sticks out. They`re also well known for leaving their tools behind in the engine bay!! When I was stationed in Mayport FL., I used them twice and experianced all of these!!

So....the best thing to do is take it to the dealership, or do it yourself. :p

Yikes! Those are some pretty nasty stories. Okee then, that seals my decision, I'll give them to my Dad for his dying Dodge Colt... maybe they'll kill it and he'll FINALLY get a new car, damn thing's a wallet cleaner. RIP Dodge! :D
