Okay... some of you are probably wondering, 'that looks a lot like a Cobalt,' because it is! I got a CEL on my MS3 two days ago, so I took it to the dealership yesterday, only to be told to bring the car back today.
So I told them I wanted to bring the car on Saturday, but that just wouldn't do because they can't contact the Mazdaspeed engineers over the weekend. >_<

I went to the dealership bright and early at 7 a.m. only to be greeted with this dream car, Cobalt (actually the worst CPOC I've ever driven). It even had this "optional" manual windows which I thought had gone extinct a long time ago. The car didn't have traction control and no ABS which worked out really nicely since the road was covered with snow and ice this morning. -_-++

I made a call to the service dept. about 10 hours later, and the service consultant said that they had to order an actuator (intake manifold valve?), which meant that I was stuck with this precious Cobalt for one more day.

Frankly, I have absolutely no idea what that is. Does that make any sense? Has anyone else with a CEL been told similar things by the dealership?

you got the same problem as the rest of us.
mine was back today for the second time.
you say they are ordering a new part, can you get the part number?
my dealer said there was not replacement part available yet.....

Man, that Cobalt is so bright. It's so sexy, call the dealership and say you'd rather have a non-CEL car and just keep the Cobalt. =)

Good luck with the MS3. Hope you get it back soon.

I had mine replaced yesterday. My power is back. Car felt not as peppy this am though. Kinda weird. I am guessing it may be from the fact it was 12F when I left.

hope you beat the hell outta it, cobalts are junk, just like anything else general motors produces with the exception of about 3 cars

You almost think they should think what kinda car we shell out the bills for every month to drive and give us something respectable to drive for the painfull days we are without our cars. I got a malibu(which I ended up paying for) that had a change oil light on the whole week and a massivly annoying vibrating noise that sounded almost like the windshield was gonna fall out.

I sure hope a particular 2 seater is included in your 3 car exception... (evil)

I wish! the problem is that the loaner cars isnt dictated by manuf. but at the discretion of the dealers... be lucky your dealers even give you a loaner... Im stuck without one (local Mazda dealer has a no loaner policy) -

I'd seriously roll in that cobalt over the MS3 anyday.

Me too. I am thinking about getting back the to Cobalt's roots though. I want to pimp an old school Chevy Cavelier. An 80s model.

all the ms6,ms3 and cx-7 have the CEL thank God i didn't have that (knock wood) on mine with 21k miles on it!!

Go buy an Acura! My dealership (Pohanka Acura) always gave me either the same model or an upgrade (TSX, TL) as loaners for any trips I made to the dealership including routine maintenance. *^_^* I just might buy an Acura again as my next car or a Lexus if they offer a manual for the IS350.

I think only the people living in cold climates have experienced problems. I didn't get a CEL until the temperature dropped down to 12 degrees Fahrenheit. So lucky you living down in South! *^_^*

Even the Concept M3 fighter version of the IS that Lexus is developing is a slushbox. How pathetic is that?

Some of my coworkers drive them as government vehicles, and they call them Crapaliers. >_< Were they better in the 80s? o_O

They were up and down. Some years were good, other years were teh shizzle.

Same with Escorts, except Escorts generally got gradually better. That's just how it is with domestics, though. As soon as they work the bugs out, they drop the model and debut another bug-ridden product line.

I drove a rental cobalt up to Chicago last October. It didn't look as nice as that one does! The door handle that's silver on the inside had lost all its silver. Soooo cheap. It had the manual window rollers as well.
I absolutely hated it. Am I spoiled? Maybe.... Is it a problem? Not as far as I'm concerned.

Are they actually auto or paddle shift? (I don't know what other auto makers call DSG)
