came home yesterday to the little ups slip saying my packages (corksport DP and PG test pipe) were delivered but nobody was at home to sign. so im calling them up today to pick up the parts. going to jack the car up and get started as i have the rest of the day off :).

has anyone done the downpipe themselves? any tips, hints, concerns, anything? im assuming the test pipe should be pretty straight forward, not sure how hard this dp will be though. ill post pics and everything soon.

again, if anyone has any tips or suggestions please feel free to post....

grrrrr... so it turns out it was only the downpipe. i may still try to install this evening, but im torn between doing it now or just waiting till the test pipe comes.

Test pipe will be a 10 minute install. I was going to wait as well. I'd just do the DP as its going to be at least an 6-10 hour install depending on your level of knowledge.

The DP is fairly easy. The instructions corksport provides are excellent. Just remember to take your time, use ALOT of WD40 on ALL bolts and O2 sensors.

if you have any questions, feel free to call me. pm me and I'll send you my number if you really need to.

oh, buy a 14mm semi-deep socket if you can find one. you will need one. :)

good luck man, let us know how it goes. i want to get a downpipe but i'm a little scared of the install...

Post a few pics of the downpipe please. I want to see if the quality and finish are as nice as the pic on thier website.

ill post pics later when i get home. i dont have a digital, so cell phone pics are going to have to suffice.

sorry everyone, still havent gotten around to the DP install. im getting all my tools from my parents house down here tomorrow sometime, so its possible for me to do it wednesday. but a roadtrip i have planned for the weekend (fri-sun) may start thursday instead.... making me wait till next week to install. i'll keep everyone updated.

update: still have not freakin received my god damn test pipe. i sent a pm to protege garage today and i think it's finally all squared away to be shipped out tomorrow. fingers crossed, i'll have it by weeks end and ill try to find some time this weekend to get these things in.

alright the day has finally come :)... i have the entire day off so im starting the install of both pieces as soon as my father gets down from north jersey with all of my tools. ill be sure to take some pictures of the test pipe and dp pre and post install.

I 'might' be sleeping so if I sound groggy, give me a minute to come to.

I would just go buy one...
You dont wanna strip anything from doing it wrong.

I think they only cost like 15-25 bucks, and theyre extremely helpful.

REMEMBER TO SOAK THE O2 SENSORS!

I striped my 2nd one and had to force it into the O2 extender.

Do exactly what the instructions say to do. Spray and let it soak with the WD40.. unscrew two turns.. spray more.. re-tighten then repeat.

so im semi done. everything wasnt too hard except getting to the last bolt on the stock downpipe, once that was out the whole job wasnt too bad. i did run into a few problems though.

1) i didnt have all the correct nuts and bolts to connect the downpipe to the PG test pipe. so i ended up just putting the stock test pipe back on until i get the correct parts.
2) the top o2 sensor got ****** up in the threading process, so i either need to get a new one or figure out a way to get that in. it frustrated the hell out of me and thats not a good way to be when trying to get those things back in, so i stopped for the time being.
3) when trying to get the 5 nuts off the stock dp, 2 of them actually came out with the entire bolt. didn't seem like a problem till i went to put the corksport dp on and i couldnt get the final bolt/nut combo into the threading. i spent about an hour just trying to get that ****** in, then tried a backup bolt that i had and no luck, so i think it may be the threading on the turbo :(.

i started the car up and sure enough there is a leak... sounded like it was coming from the dp/test pipe connection which is fine as i will have that fixed in a couple days. im just worried about the final bolt on the DP. any ideas? i may just end up taking it to a shop to avoid the frustration. had that bolt not come out in the first place, i had all the parts layed out correctly, and the o2 sensor wasnt a b****... this would have been pretty quick and painless. like nutari said, soak the s*** out of the o2 sensors to avoid that problem, and hope that just the nut and not the entire bolt comes out when removing the stock dp.

yeah i got them. still having a few problems, pm me.

i think i may end up selling the test pipe now anyway for financial reasons.

the two lower are bolts i think and to get that last one in youll have to loosten it all up and snug it down first.
