Finally installed my roll bar

Roll bar is in!

Went with a HDHCDD Took about 6 hours to install. Did most of the work myself, only needing help with the rear leg bolts, since I don't have rubber arms. The car is defianetly stiffer. Even the squek from the left front fender is gone (thumb)

nice...i see you have the front lip as well. was it hard to install the roll bar ? i'm planning on installing one on my miata

The bar wasn't hard at all. But it was time consuming. It took me about an hour to take out the seats, seat belts and covers, fold back the carpet, and remove the gas tank cover. It would have gone quicker, but I had a custom/frenzy cockpit bar.

The next day, i picked up the bar, and read the directions I cut the rear 'firewall' as instructed, and put the bar in place. Then it was simply a matter of drilling holes (another long story for me...) After bolting the bar in place, I trimmed the cover, carpet, and insulation and put it back in place. Then trimmed the seatbelt covers, and reinstalled the seats.

Very simple. But if I had to do it again, for the first time, it would have been nice to have some help.

Very nice. I prefer the black bars much more than chrome and what not. I plan on pursasing one within the next couple of months for my second Miata.

Here is the cut that I had to make on the 'firewall'. One on each side. It would have come out cleaner, but I didn't have blades for my air-saw, so I used my air-cutoff wheel:

Yep. You're getting that mixed up with a sway bar . The roll bar prevets serious injuries in the event of a rollover. Additionally, it'll add some rigidity to the chassis.

That's the one I'm gonna get... Just waiting to hear back form hard dog to see if I can get them to powdercoat it Titainium as well.. you know.. Just to be different

Or if they can ship it unfinished and I'll get it coated here locally... either way... the hardcore bars rock... No one will make fun of your miata for being girly after installing that

Oh, and here's a couple of the bar in the car! These were with the padding on, but before I got the cover made. I think I've had the cover on for over a year, maybe two, and I've never taken pictures specifically of it! I'll have to do that if it ever stopps raining!

NICE!! I can't wait to see it! (nana) Another good thing is that since my model, they have made improvements, like my seatbelts don't retract at all by themselves because how they had to be relocated--your's will be all good since they have changed it. (thumb)

yep.. found the DFW guys.. that didn't take long... www.dfwmiata.com

And yes, I plan to autocross it... Just passed 500 miles at lunch, so now it's time to change the oil over to mobil 1 and start enjoying the car... Barring any rain, I plan to autocross the car on Sunday

Although... I'm just gonna guess on classing BS? Hope so.. I've already bought those magnets!

Oh yeah.. Just got off the phone... I kinda waivered abit and went for the sport over the hardcore... I like my seat travel too much. Unfinished, and I talked to my body guy and he'll prep paint etc for a couple hundred bucks. Shoudl look sweeeet...
