Finally Haz Stealthbox

So I've had this installed for a couple weeks. But it took me a while to finally decide on a permanent mounting point for the amp. I wanted to retain the full functionality of the hatch as much as possible. And I hated trying to deal with putting it on the seat with the rear vents in the way, etc.

I'm not too worried about heat dissipation, my amp is a class D, and I don't bump it too hard or too continuously (plus I don't really listen to rap or bass heavy music).

I just wanted to finally complete the sound of the stock system, I couldn't be happier.

Video coming soon.

very nice, but I would put a grille over it for protection, you must haul a lot of stuff around since you have the rubber mat.

Oh I know it. I battled back and forth with different subs. I decided on this sub because of the price, reviews, and peak power handling.

Unfortunately this sub does not offer a grill. I even went to JBLs website, and they don't advertise any there either. I've seen "universal" grills, but they look like ass, and fitment can be shoddy.

I guess I'm going just be as careful as I can for a while, until I figure something out. Or when I puncture it, I'll just buy a new sub and maybe try a different brand that offers grills (Kicker, JL, Polk, etc)

Looks good, I like that mat in your trunk.

Yeah the mat is key man. It's so easy to clean, and keeps your hatch nice and clean.

If you vacuum it or take it out and shake it. It takes 30 secs to clean. Plus the carpet underneath stays fresh, and you don't have to spend anytime vacuuming that at all.

Yeah any dealer should have them (or be able to order them).

Just keep in mine there are not specific Speed models. They are only listed for regular Mazda3 hatches. But it fits fine.

I would also like to know if you made this or bought it. I want to do something like this. Are you running the stock HU? And what did you do about an amp?

It's designed for the Bose unit, so everything works on it for the sport except the turn on lead. I had to tap my own switched 12v source for that.

He bought this from http://www.voxcaraudio.com/, they just had a group buy for it.. check the group by area, there should still be some available.

And yeah, I bought it from the same guy that used to make them a year ago. I've been pining over it ever since. Someone finally contacted him and made a group buy. I got in on that first batch. It was such a success, he re-launched his site.

I take it you have to remove your jack to install the sub enclosure? if so where did you
put your jack?

that enclosure looks incredible! i wish they made it for the 99-00 sedans, as i really need a stealthbox. otherwise, a basslink might be my only option if i don't want to compromise trunk space.
