finally got some pics of my system what u guys think?

ugh! you got your 3 at galpin? i had a horrible experience there.

one of the pieces of s*** had a really small chin and a gay little spikey hair cut and the other guy was bald and cocky.

hope you had a good experience though. :)

but i saw somewere that doing this voids my warranty???? ... oh by the way a ladie helped me at the dealer and i had a really good experience thank god in and out in like 2 hours test drove 2 cars lol a 2.0 and mine (2.3)

I couldn't imagine why it would void your warranty. You are just adding to whats already there. There is a wire running from you alt to your batt. U are just adding an extra. Grounds as well. There is no possible way of this mod causing a problem short of it getting ingested some how by the engine due to careless install. As far a shorts and such you are far more likely to do that with your system install, if its hasnt been properly secured/grometted.

oh lol... sence i only have one sub in the car.. the other is sitting in my room lol... would it be better to have in a larger box? by the way the guy told me today that wenever i blow one or i think its getting kinda old to blow it on purpose he said i have lifetime warranty lol no extra cost

Lol interesting. Make sure that that warranty is transferable before doing any wall socket bass offs. With the right box and amp you can expect more SQ and output from a single sub than with an undersized (no flaming) sealed box. But here are the $100 questions. What impedance are your subs? What is the RMS? What are the output capabilities of your amp (sony?) at 2 and 4 ohms? Bridged? If you dont know the answers to these questions just give me the models of you amp and subs. Im betting since you are running two that they are wired at two ohms and are 2omh DVC subs, but seeing as they are in separate boxes who knows. If they turn out to be 4ohm subs, then you are in luck, for many reasons. But figure it out and get back to us.

you cant just go nailing a box together. you have to follow the speakers required specs. personally i like the compact box speakers. i have a very old solobaric 10" sub that requires something like 0.66 cubic feet of space. sealed. it is in my truck. my bass is tight. not all brrrraagggghhh! sloppy door/mirror buzzing. maybe i am just getting old. i am leaving my stuff stock. i like my car light, and to handle well.

nice install btw!

Not exactly, you are right that you should never nail a box together, but the recommended factory specs are way off for maximum SQ, output or both. The reason being is that no one is going to buy a sub that the factory tells em needs 5 cubic feet+ to sound good. An for most people it works fine, because the average person doesnt get loads of exposure to different subs and systems enough to tell the difference. Every sub i have or installed after running through the software shows at least a 1 foot variance for both SQ and output settings at the LEAST. Thats a whole lot. I gotta run to the airport right now but when i get back ill loook into that stuff for you.

You using a mount for your garmin or is it just kinda sitting there? I need a strategic place for mine and HATE having suction cups on my windshield.

i don't understand why people do this? i'm not downen your setup but how loud can you turn it up and whats the point? "boom, boom"..to each his own..

I would gather that you have never sat in a car with a real system. Most people have this notion when all they've heard is ghetto blaster garbage setups, and there are plenty out there. The main reason for that is that there is an indefinite amount to learn about proper installation and tuning, and for the most part 95% of the people with systems dont have clue one on the ins and outs of it. Even the bose system that come in the GTs sounds like hammered ass IMO. Muddy lows, no mid range punch or clarity to speak of and brassy highs. I didnt buy th GT for that reason, I had every intention of throwing my own in. I was running 2 5.25 type-X components, with a 12 inch Type-X in 2.4 cubes at 31ish hz, off of a MRD-1005 and a Eclipse AX100. It took me about a week to tune it the way i needed to be. Setting your gains involves a multimeter and some test tones, not just a flick of the wrist. When it was all dialed in it was mind blowing. It wasnt boomy in the slightest, the bass kicked you in the chest but it blended flawlessly with the mids and highs, and it sounded like the sub was directly in front of you even though it was in the trunk. I took the time to insure that nothing rattled or anything like that. Even songs i had heard a million times before took on new life and impact, as i was discovering notes and instruments that i had never heard in the track before. Songs make you mellow, get you pumped, whatever, every experience was magnified. If you really love music, there is no way to reproduce it properly with out a sub no matter how good your components are. Imaging is another big thing, you should be able to close your eyes and "know" where the guitarist is sitting, where the drum kit is, where the vocalist is. This is the main reason i dont run rear fill. There is a lot to it, and until you sat in a real SQ setup, dont think youve heard a system. Selling ghetto blasters to people that dont know better is how car audio shops stay in business. Oh and the "boom boom" if done right, you should be able to hear very little outside of the car even cranked up.

You are running 15"s? Are you absolutely sure that these are 4omh DVC? Im not trying to insult you or anything, but you didnt go by the picture right? If this is the case, (and you are running both of them, which would be 4omhs) you would only be getting 550w RMS from your amp to run 2 500W RMS subs. If you were to run just one 4omh sub it should be wired to 2omhs which would give your sony an output of 900w. It would indeed be better to run one sub if thats the case, and in the right box it would WANG. A lika so...
What im guessing you have going on...

yeah dude im sure thast what it is it says on the sub itself i dont think its wired right now that i see the pic im guessing that was a good deal right all that for 500..... another thing like u said its just not the same when u have a sub lol when i get into my uncles ms3 its just the bose and its too plain lol

dude i put the lil circle plastic in there and actually put the suction cup there i took the ash tray out but if u want u can take the mount off and the ash tray will still go in with the plastic in there

Again dude, edit post, dont double or triple post. You are running you subs at half power. I would very much recommend a single ported box running at 2 ohms on your sony amp. That will give you 900 available watts RMS to one sub as opposed to the 250 they are getting now. While you obviously wont want to run the amp wide open for fear of nuking your sub. I just got home and need to sleep but we can start playing with some box ideas over the next few days to see what you can do. I think when its all said and done it will blow your mind what this setup can actually do, with one sub no less.

lol dude its not even at half power... im only using one sub also i think i already said this lol.......

dude i hate this in my car my sub sounds good and everything inside the car not really outside... my bro has a ram and hes using my other sub and u can here him from a mile away (being sarcastic) bumpin and my car doesnt do that its the same sub do u think its becouse he has an aftermarked headunit and can make it sound better?

Having a nice sound system in a car is very addicting. I had a very clean setup in my old car and it just made driving so much more enjoyable. I had some boom boom subs before, but I ended up ditching them for 1 12" Kenwood, and upgraded the front speakers along with amps. Once its all said and done having a nice stereo means more to me than having lots of boom!. hehe. With the right sound deadening your car can sound very quiet from the outside and sound amazing inside.

lol... u know what whast what most people say cuz once u open the door and sit down they notice i have a sub now that i have a lil control thing so it wont make the car raddle unless it on max wich i never do i usually put it on the right side were the lil sit folds down so i can see it moving lol
