Finally got above freezing in Indiana and I had a chance to wash and sweep my Mazda 2

Well it finally got above freezing here in Indiana...55 lovely degrees right now...and I took advantage of the break in the weather to wash and sweep my Mazda 2. You really get to know a car when you wash and sweep it.

I am impressed with the interior fit and finish...and amazed at the amount of sand I swept out of the interior. (boom06)

Likewise...I was again reminded of how pretty a vehicle it is with all the road grime washed off of it. It was easy to wash, with no sharp edges or difficult crevaces to clean. I am getting old...and lots of squatting and stooping makes any job less fun...so I was pleasantly surprised that most of the 2 is easily washed without being a contortionist.

The 2 replaced a Honda Civic...and I grumbled everytime that I washed it that it seemed that about half the car was curved underneath such that you had to get down on your hands and knees to wash it.

Well...forgive my musing...but boy do I like a clean car...I felt like everyone was admiring it as I drove down the road...yeah...I know...nobody else cared...but it sure made me happy to go for a drive on an nice day with a clean car...even if it only lasts for a day or two. (yippy)

Washed mine today too! :D This has been our first week without rain every other day, and my first washing... I share your excitement!

I too had a Honda Civic (EX sedan and Si Sedan), and most recently, a VW Sportwagen... so I was pleasently surprised at how quickly the 2 washed up in comparison...

Biggest Surprise? The wheels.... its nice to have some small 15" wheels with large enough holes to clean between the spokes!

I agree Richard. Clean tires and wheels make the car. There are some beautiful wheels out therebut if it is impossible to get the brake dust out of all the little holestheir beauty quickly fades IMHO.

Up here the winter road grime must also be cleaned from the wheels.which is almost as annoying as that red Valdosta clay you have to do battle with!

My Mazda dealer offers a free hand wash each Saturdayand I tried them once.but not surprisingly the gentlemen doing the washing at the dealership wash the cars quicklylike a man doing his job. In contrastI wash lovinglyas a man who owns the car and wants it to retain its sheen for a decade!

At the dealership they dont do a thing with the tires and wheels.so even though the sheet metal was relatively cleanthe car just didnt have that sparkle.

It is dry again todayso I got two days of driving a clean car. Life is good! (thumb)
