I just want to share my esperience on this. It may help lots of fellow owners.
For some time now my MS3 started to trow code on irregular basis. I had p2177 p2187
At first i tought of a leak in my bov installation(its been installed june 2007) so looking around inspecting all my hoses and connection i found a loose nipple on my bpv. Fixed that cleared the code and Voila! no code for about a week.
Then i had the 2 code back again + p2097 and the LTFT was very odd(25) Still suspecting a leak somewhere before the turbo since it hold down pressure very well. I had change my CAI filter just the week before the code popped up. I finally disassembled my CAI the intercooler and the bpv to inspect the spark plugs. All of them where fine and gapped to spec exept one that was at .032. so i regapped all plugs to .030. While adjusting the back hose to the intercooler i put my hand on the tip(stock). Surprise it was very loose. So finally tighten the tip and cleared the code. Its not coding anymore. I still need to make a leak test to make sure everything after turbo is tight.
Even with a mostly stock (intake, bpv, rmm insert) car and even without any mechanics messing with it the tip came loose.
Lesson is: inspect all hoses connection once in a while.
