figure this one out... - flash psychic

it's rigged. go through all the two digit numbers listed, and when you do what it tells you to, all the numbers you would end up with have the same symbol next to them.

lol.... try again... that was my first thought also... but that is incorrect!

holey s***! i see the trick!!! your correct, but the thing that got me is that the image is different each time you retry!

sorry for wasting your time... now i feel real stupid!

Keep in mind it's been a hell of long time since I left college (Computer Engineering major) but I think I know how... maybe...they did this.

Please feel free to prove me wrong. Cal. IV was my last class and had nothing to do with Algebra, but what the hell.

Let's say you choose a two digit number n. Let a represent the first digit of n and b represent the second digit of n. Then,

n = 10 * a + b.

The next thing that is to be done is to subtract the sum of the digits. So, then you have:

n - (a + b) = 10 * a + b - (a + b) = 9 * a

In other words, you will always end up with a multiple of nine. Specifically, you will always end up with the first digit of the number you choose times 9.... and... if you pay close attention, even though they scramble the symbols each time, they always use the same symbol for each multiple of 9.

Crafty folks... :-)

LOL...Its kinda cool though...Im sending it to all the dumb kids in my office. They'll spend about 4 hours trying to figure it out, then they'll email me asking me how it works I love it.

You guys are too fast, either that or it took too long for me to write out the proof.... LOL
