Fidel Castro - Cuba

The leadership of Vietnam and the Leasdership of China while not buddy buddy with the us have come to sort of a respect of one another and realizing that one needs the other. Fidel Castro has no interest in Dealing with America and the feelings somewhat mutual. I think that once Fidels reign is over and a slightly more moderate leader takes his place, the embargo will be lifted. Thats just my opinion though.

Oh and YellowMSP please let me commend you as I always do people who can debate without flaming and insulting the person they are conversing with. You state your points with passion but also with restraint and intelligence. Thats always welcome.

thanks you too ;) but what people don't know is after Castro took power he visited the U.S. and tried to be on good terms but he was denied a meeting with the the president after that he became more closer to the USSR

communism would work if it werent for 2 things. human nature and greed(we call it "incentive" here in the U.S.). when you add those two items, you get capatalism!

This is wild!!!! You have to know Spanglish to understand some of it...

Esto esta salvaje !!!! Tienes que saber Spanglish para entender algunas partes ...

Spanglish: This is Wild!!! You tienes qu know Spanglish para understand this s***... lmao

Everyone knew Castro would fall someday...the question is: Now what ?

What incentive do they have to do that? Castro in case you noticed is not a big fan of the U.S. If he wants our business, he was to loosen the reigns of communism which he won't do.

If they want us to play ball, they have to play ball too. You don't get something for nothing. First rule of Diplomacy.

ok i must say this....HOW IS IT THAT EVERY OTHER COUNTRY HAS NO EMBARGO ON CUBA? because they do well...trade/globilzation is a good thing...this isnt 1950 (insert any other random year) anymore...

How those other countries deal with Cuba is their business. I think its okay to say that the US is well vested in trade and globalization but some thinks are not cut and dry. There will need to be a re-thinking of priorities on both sides of the issue for the embargo to be lifted.

and he will be promptly overthrown.(peep) ...maybe?

or if he is more moderate the U.S will enter into discussions with him and this might possibly lead to a lifting of the trade embargo.

thats right because we def needed to go into iraq...

Ok. Right here is where I lose all respect for you. How in the HECK do we go from talking about a trade embargo on Cuba to the war in Iraq. I'm not even gunna go there with you. If you wanna start a thread related to that you go right ahead but once again the "It's all Americas fault" gang rears it's head. Geez. Stay on topic my man. Irqa is a whole other hill of beans. Besides this embargo has been long standing. Why didn't Bill Clinton work harder to end the embargo?

"In 1999, U.S. President Bill Clinton expanded the trade embargo even further by ending the practice of foreign subsidiaries of U.S. companies trading with Cuba in dollar amounts totaling more than 700 million a year. As of 2006, the embargo is still in effect, making it one of the most enduring trade embargoes in modern history."

Because this is a topic that runs deep. It's not as easy as saying "The US should just end the embargo. Like I said: both sides would have to make concessions.

But please don't start with this Iraq stuff.

"Really"... lol

Let me reiterate what I meant:

Raul Castro @ 75 is not much to talk about...but what will he do in Fidel's shoe's (for what ever time that might be). Even with the thought of a collective leadership; how would such effect Cuba's needs? Will the fear of "El pueblo" or "La Havana" cause a problem within the current society? How many doors will this open to such an island with so much potential? How would such effect the currents steps taken with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez? Will Hugo have any influence in Cuba's future? and on and on

Hence Now What?

So now have a Coke and a smile...lol

(hmm).... I agree, yet these type of topic get a bit outta hand; so I'll go have a Coke too...lol

From the sound of things, one would think that everybody fondly reminisces about Batista . . . Oh well, in 2000 years, nobody will care about Castro.

It sounds like it... but as far as I'm concerned Fidel "Tiene un pie en el hospital y el otro en el cementerio"

The question now is Cuba...

i dont think hugo chavez is licking his chops he has the military power and the power of the poor people in venezuela, beleive me i know......

the whole iraq thing, yes i know its a different topic and no im not in a "america is at fault" crew i just think that the whole iraq thing is a fiasco....but your right its off topic in this thread and i wont go into detail f my thoughts on that.

if you want to lose your respect for me, go ahead and do so i dont really care im just having a "discussion" as you call it and your "not flaming" as you say you arent.

yes i know his brother is almost as old as fidel and well he wouldnt be as "grand" as fidel and looser but he is the only blood succesor of current times so it would be passed onto him. i mean look right now he has temporary control while fidel is sick. he is a softer shadow then fidels per say and will probably use soft power for a refence in power and not be as strict so things will change under him i beleive. i just made a simple comment on the next ruler being it better or worse or mutal.

aslo take note that i dont say most of my posts in a cereal way more sarcastic/humorous which you cannot see most of the time...

and donas please dont place me with your average amrican because i am well traveled and know some about life, some about politics and am observant...maybe im not explaining myself well enough and am typing faster then i can think and produce logical/sufficiant arguments which is neither here nor there since i dont want to go on and on and babble like i know i can/will ;)

No hard feelings man! I just get a little steamed when people relate EVERYTHING to Iraq! I overreacted a little and I apologize. Let's just keep on topic. Cool?:)
