Fickle towards performance.....

I was driving home tonight from school and some d-bags in a 3.5 litre maxima (considerably modded from the sound of it) wanted to race, I though nothing of it and was gonna ignore them but that still small voice inside told me to do it. We both accelerated in first gear normally but he initiated the race in second and i chose to play along. We were even all the way to 110 mph and he called a quits. (he was however one car length ahead of me and stayed that way the entire run)

I'm completely stock and planned on staying that way for warranty purposes but i'm tired of gay-a$$ people in gti's and si's keeping up with me. I'm thinking of just doing RAI and an accessport. Would i be pleased with the results or would i need mods further that stage 1 of an accessport to quench my thirst? I don't wanna do any DP's , sound like they're too often associated with smokin' turbos.

I'm secretly hope my stock suspension wears soon so i have an excuse to drop.....=P

Why don't you go to an autocross and show them who's got the faster car rather than street racing? If you street race, you always lose.

ummm yeah, i generally don't street race... this happens to me maybe once every 3 months.... if even that. I don't go looking for it.

@addison
like you've never street raced!? lol your comment was a little vague.

What's even worse is when people are "racing" you without you even knowing it. I can't tell you how many times I've been approaching a spot on 206 where 2 lanes merge and somebody wizzes by me and then sticks their hand out the window in a "I just owned you" salute. However, if you want some more performance out of your car I say go for it. For roughly $700 you'll get some pretty cool sounds and maybe 25-30 extra horses at the wheels.

get an sri and test pipe and you should be good. those are will be the cheapest power mods you can get and best bang for your buck. you could likely skip out on the AP, i wouldn't get the AP until you get additional mods anyway and a custom tune. if you want a cheap "tune" without a custom tune look into the hypertech.

Why would he get an custom tune if he was eventually gonna get an AP? Get a 500 dollar custom only for the AP to wipe out the tune? Just get an intake/bov and eventually an ap. The gains are nice and it makes driving alot more fun. Those were my first mods and I got some nice stick tires to stay planted. Then get a RMMM and you should be good for a while.. whole different car.

Can't believ this thread hasn't been trashed yet....anywho

You will never be totally satisfied when it comes to speed, if you do in fact enjoy speed. Nothing proves this like owning a crotch rocket

I used to have an 05 suzuki gsxr600, for my first bike. At first during the break in it was fast as s*** to 6k rpms, then boring. Then it was fast as s*** till 12k rpms, then boring. Finally it was fast as s*** again all the way to 15k rpms. After a while, in a straight line, 600cc's just didn't feel fast anymore, and I wanted a liter bike. I know I would have eventually gone through the same thing and then wanted to get either a busa or kawi 1300

The satisfaction of having speed is never fully achieved. Imagine having owned a street bike, pretty much THEE fastest thing on the road, and quickly getting bored with it. Its worse in a car, at least it is for me. I personally look at it like I know I'm not the fastest on the road, but on average its faster than most other cars on the road.

Do what you want to do with the car, but realize you will always be looking to add more power after getting bored with whatever your last mod gave you

And another piece of advice, don't post about street racing on here
