Fiberglass Enclosure for the Protege5

...unreal

Where have you guys learned how to do these enclosures? I've been looking for some tutorials or something to learn how too. And I don't mean to steal the thread, just got excited. (jerkit) :D

oh my ya, i know... i'd hate that... lol

hey heres a question for ya... i found a CR hood, that isn't perfect but its a
B-STOCK HOOD IS A HOOD MADE WITH GRADE A CARBON FIBER, WHEN THIS HOOD WAS MADE IT DIDNT COME OUT PERFECT WHEN FINISHED & BECAME A B-STOCK HOOD. for $1 and shipping of coarse is $175 but that is really cheap for a CF hood don't you think?
I personaly wouldn't buy a carbon fiber hood even if it was free. If it has a defect then you probably don't want it, regardless of the price.

thats what i was thinking
i want to paint the middle of my hood the same color as my wheels..hehe

you got excite huh,, lol tell me about it then..lol

I have seen the Carbon Fiber B-Stock hoods as well. I personally would not buy them because the epoxy coat on them is all messed up and un-even and there are all sorts of rough spots in the carbon, and really anything B-Stock is never as simply "not good enough" for A-Stock as they want you to think. Chances are it also wont even fit correctly. If it was soo simple as messed up epoxy they would just go back in a fix it, but most likely it's warped and has several other things wrong with it.

As for the headlights, I know you can get the Xenon bulbs that tend to have a whiter light than halogen, and with all the new laws with HID's Xenon bulbs have almost become completely legal. I do know that the Xenon bulbs that project the Red and Green light path are still highly controversial because they are altered to produce that intentionally. With HID's those color come about as part of the warm-up process and thusly cannot be avoided by the driver. I have seen cars with the Red and Green Xenon bulbs, and I can tell you that they certainly do not give off as much light as you would think. If you line up a red and a blue neon right next to eachother, you will note that the blue neon is considerably brighter because it is most closely related to hyper white and gives a much better light projection path. I know Xenon is different that Neon, but it's the same concept. You are much better off either getting the Hyper White Xenon bulbs or even the HID Upgrade Bulb/Ballast set for your car if you want to go all out.

As for where I personally learned how to fiberglass. I had the great fortune to work with two of the best installers in Georgia for a year while they worked on several Nopi cars as well as several other high dollar customs that came into our shop. I am also a great enthusiast of the Select Products line of Training Videos.

Go to Category A-Z, then go to Video's & DVD's in the bottom left hand column.

on the bulbs, i called the DPS here and they told me if the bulbs aren't D.O.T. approved they are illegal.. whatever that means...lol

I love the enclosure. Gives it that special show look without going balls to the walls bling. Dare I say it looks more JDM? lol But great work on that man. If you ever decide to mass produce or make more, drop me a line. My car won't be all show, but I'd like a bit of some to go along with the go. :D

I believe i spent $89.99 for my 12' q-logic BP box from crutchfield (outlet part) and $54.99 for my sealed 12' q-logic box.

$109 is not bad for a double 12' custom box......looks nice!

1sty....what did you do with your fuse box for those kick panels? Move it up higher?

No, those kicks are in my STi so I didn't have a fuse box to move.

HOwever, when I built some for my protege, I just moved it up a little higher. The wires are actualy pretty long so you can just cut off the tap and push it up. There is bolt up higher you can utalize to hold it in place.

nice work man.... you gotta show me how to do that once i get back in town. Im only doing one 12 though. got any ideas?
