i have brought my 5 to the dealer a few times about squeaking in the suspension...its in the rear. also, when the AC compressor cuts in it sqwaks in the rain. did it pretty well since day one....and there are a few interior swueaks in the dash and drivers door...anyone know how to fix these?

esp the susepsnion one and dash creaks....

other than that its such a fun car for the family

I've had my rear suspension bushing replaced and this fixed the squeaks in the rear. There is also a known fix for the creaking/poping sound from the front right dash.....It's posted on the forum somewhere. Your dealer should be able to fix these as they are common problems.
Can't offer any advise on the A/C as it's been many months since I've had to actually use the A/C here in Calgary; and I haven't had any problems with the driver's side door.

I've had the sway bar bushings replaced and it went away for a while but then came back after a few months. Happens 20*F or below. IMO, until they actually get the bushings right, white lithium grease is the best solution to make this go away.

That being said, I'm just giving up on the suspension problem and letting it be. It does nothing to cause further damage to the car and it's not a safety issue... just a mild annoyance. My issue only ever lasts 5-10 minutes into my drive until the suspension friction heats up the rubber bushings, then the sound goes away. The sound is simply rubber-to-metal contact noise when the bushings are cold and harder.

As far as the squeaky belts, that is not a common 5 problem and should be investigated before it goes out of warranty. Probably looking at a new belt or belt tensioner.

I've heard the A/C squawk a couple of times in the rain. I took it in once and the dealer couldn't find anything. It doesn't happen often. I would be interested to know if you ever find anything out.

my 20 y/o BMW has coilovers, tires that rub under heavy Gs, and poly-bushings everywhere. You should hear the noises that come out of that!

i bet...however mines a 07 stock suspended car with no mods...its supposed to be silent. had the belts and pulleys changed....as for the rear susepsnion im going to put it in for that asap...

son of a beaver! i was driving my 5 on the highway today in the rain and MY 5 started doing the squeaky belt thing for the AC! what the heck are the chances it started for the first time right after I responded about yours.

ugh. I got time in the warranty left, I'll see what it does over the coming weeks.

Opps sorry jandree....i think I have jinxed you. I was in rain the ohter night and it never did it so it may be fixed now...and the susepnsion has stopped squaking because the temp went up...however we have a load of ice pellets falling and froze the wipers to the shield to day and I ripped one of my blades...muthaf#$&ER

kojak, something I was reading elsewhere on teh internets was that the squeaky belt is more likely to occur when wet (duh) and when it was cold (because the rubber is more stiff). makes sense... so I'll monitor whether this keeps happening in the spring and summer when temps are above 50/60*F. It was about 45*F when it happened to me yesterday.

It happend to me during the summer too just rain...i cannot stand squeaks in my rides...its like someone sticking needles in my eyes. I had my dads suburban the other day while he had my truck to bring his sled to the cottage, OMG, its a rattle box...JUNK...my F150 is quiet and smooth...
