Fastest Gone In Ur P5

whats the fastest you guys have gone in ur P5. I've only hit 85mph. everyone else???

Yesterday I hit 130MPH and backed off. The car wanted to go a little faster but I backed down. Interstate 32 near Fort Meade Maryland has a straight-away thats probably 3 to 4 miles. Downside of this military police. They might make me do a million pushups to get out of that ticket.

How did you reach 130mph in a stock Pro5? Was it going down a large hill? The most I've been able to get mine up to is 111mph and she was struggling to reach that.

In C&D they said the top sspeed was 103Mph. I was surprised it was so low. About 10 or 12 years ago my brother had a Cavalier Z24, V6 130Hp. It did 130Mph. I was shocked, but it did it. My point is, I know that we only have a 2.0 4 clylinder but a decade later and the same amount oh horses, I was thinking that we should hit around 130 or at least 120. Im happy to hear that some one did it. I dont think I will ever drive that fast, but its nice to know that we can hopefully get faster the the 103 C&D say is the max.

i do not have a p5(mp3), but i got up to 130mph, on penisula expressway in dundalk.

Actually this thread topic has been explored before....do a search and I think you'll find about 4 pages worth of top speed listings. personally I've only hit about 115 in my ES before I started moding and it wasn't close to toping out. I think most folks on the other thread were averaging around 130-132.

Derrick might know where I am talking about. It does not have any hills, Its flat as Pamela Lee at 13 years old. No traffic=130mph. The temperature was 60 degrees winds coming from the north at 5 mph. The relative pressure was 69.8 inches and rising. (LoL).
Oh I use 93 instead of 87 for gas. Which helps out. The car does not bog like it did with 87. 130 is possible

Top Speed

I think the numbers in C&D are pretty far off... either that, or past 100 MPH my speedometer is good at making junk up. On a roadtrip to Knoxville, TN a few weeks ago, I did my first and probably only Top speed run. On a major four lane highway, 5:30 AM, no other traffic whatsoever, ~2 miles of straight road,clear view in all directions, and a nice quiet radar detector I decided to try it out. I got up to ~125 according to the speedometer, with about 250 RPM's left before redline. I maintained the speed for about 10 seconds or so and slowed back down to the posted limit of 70. The car felt very stable, and didn't struggle at all. I have no idea how much our speedometers are off at high speeds (most every car is), but it felt fast enough.

(Hmm, I guess I'll do like the above posts .) It was probably 45 degrees F, no wind, 93 octane, and a K & N filter as my only mod.

top spead for a stock P5 is 118MPH and the sedan is 120MPH...don't know about the MP3

me personaly i've done ~115MPH (185km/h)......

123mph is the best I've managed. And it took about 2 minutes to get those last few mph out of the car. I may have been able to get a few more since their was a short downhill stretch just ahead when I had to slow down for traffic. But I guess 123mph is ok for now.=)

When compared to the readings on my GPS the speed is within 1 mph of the speedometer. And I would trust the GPS over most other mehtods.

i had my auto up to 108mph on flat i95. traffic was coming up so i couldn't push it farther or faster.

Jesus God! That's my average freeway speed. Though my commute is 55 miles one way on the freeway. I usually drive between 75 and 95 unless someone gets in front of me.

I'd also like to add that I've done a little research, and it seems like the faster my average speed, the better gas mileage I get. I purposefully drove like a bat out of hell last week... tried to run the RPMs up before shifting, etc... and I pulled 31 mpg.

Top speed, around 105... I really wasn't *trying* to go fast... it just happened that once I looked down and that's where I was at.

The car seems to handle it fine. This car seems to do exceptionally well when accelerating from 60 to 80 in fifth gear!

yeah...C&D's numbers have to be way off...i thought they quoted the P5 at 113mph...anyways...when i hit 120mph when i actually realized i was going 120 mph and backed off...my P5 is stock and i wasn't redlining it either...

I've hit 120mph with no problem in my STOCK p5 . Speed is all i do... on the highway the lowest i go is 75mph. I could've went faster the 120 but i had to slow down b/c i say a cop in the distance..

I'm beginning to wonder if there is somethine wrong with my car. I was only able to hit 111mph at WOT for at least 5 miles and she struggled just to get there. I don't intend to run those speeds often, but I wonder if I'm not making as much power as I should.

Do you have an automatic transmission?

I have manual transaxle. I also have the airbags in the seat with a sunroof/moonroof.
