Falken RT615 - does the moaning ever stop?

Okay, in my younger days I caused a little moaning inside my car, but I've never heard it coming from outside. I finally ordered and received my new rims, so after several weeks of looking at my RT615's, I finally got them on the car last night. I stopped at the gas station and made sure the pressures are where I want them and drove to work this morning. I have had tires rumble and make noises, but moaning? I'm almost getting used to it after the one 45 minute drive, but it is weird.

Yes, the Azenis are known to moan...and it never stops. (lol2)
I used to only drive on performance tires; Azenis and MXs. Then one day I decided to get a dedicate set of wheels for autocrossing and installed some decent "non-performance oriented" tires and I was just shocked at how quiet the car was went coasting...I couldn't hear a thing and I did not have to shout to talk with my passenger. (lol2)

Those tires are loud!! But you get used to it... Frankly, it does get annoying after a while.

I don't care who you are. That was funny! (lick)

I had them on my S2000 and just wait, they get worse as they wear. Probably the stickiest street tire I've every driven on, but not quiet at all. They don't last very long either. I think mine went about 20k with a handfull of autocrosses on them.

I'll be thrilled to get 20k out of them. I have a set of Kuhmo all seasons on the stock rims for winter and told the wife to expect to see these get replaced every year even with them only on the car for 8 months of the year based on other posts I've seen.
She loves me. She just said, "really? Well, if that's what it takes."

Forgive me, but I have to make the joke. Why shouldn't the tires moan, the car is a little screamer.

HAHA!! Well, it seems I will have to suffer through this also because my rims are comin with a set of RT-615s and I am not going to be replacing them anytime soon lol

My tires do not moan, but they do talk a little dirty to me. sorry to offend the offendable . but it's true

When new mine moaned a lot around 110kph. It went away after about 100km.

They are noisy tires, but I would not say they moan, just loud.

just make the car loud enough, then you wont hear the tires. I use them on my FC for street use (when I actually do drive it on the street) and I couldnt hear anything, but I also have a 3in open exhaust, dumped gate, and gutted car:)

I haven't noticed mine moaning...I don't have a stereo in my car either. I don't think they are any noisier than the OE tires. I'd be happy to get 8,000 miles out of them though. I have about 4,000 on them now and have about 4/32nds left.

Have you tried rolling downhill with the engine off and the door open. I have found that you can hear your tires much better with this method and if you stick your head out and get your ear closer to the ground , my tires are kinda noisy. nitto 555

Sounds quite safe ;)

I'm officially making a great big girly pout right now (and let me tell you it looks ridiculous on a guy pushing 50). I haven't got the rear springs installed yet, but even with just the fronts, and the RT615 225/40/18 on 8 inch rims, the car is so freaking solid that it has lost all sensation of speed. It just takes off. I got dusted at a light by a BMW on the way home tonight and at first I thought the car had something wrong with it there was so little sensation of speed. I played with it making brief full throttle runs the rest of the way home until I was convinced that it is just as fast, it just doesn't feel that way. Oh well, it'll be even faster around corners and cooking down winding roads, it just won't feel like it.
Damnit, I'm gonna miss riding the clutch to get traction off the line.

lol, hooray for saving your clutch. what kind of bimmer was it? M3? 335? i wouldnt think the 330 would "dust" you.

Don't know, I was too busy driving to look for the nameplate. All I can say is that it was a middle sized four (I think, now not so sure) door with an aggressive look and really really wide tires.

I got 20000 miles out of mine, with about 5 autocrosses on them. The moaning never stops and I'm looking forward to stop being lazy and swapping tires for autocross so I can drive with peace and quiet (just got new ones about 2 weeks ago). Although, the Falken ZE-512 I have for my all seasons aren't very quiet either. When they wear out I'll be getting something like the Yoko Avid W4S so I can use them till the car dies and they'll be quiet too.

had to laugh. my perspectve has changed also. On the Bridges I could do bad things to the tires in second gear, at will. Now the car just hooks up. And it feels slower till I look at speedo. The lateral G's in turns and stopping, the confidence that really good tires inspire, are worth every penny.

Ps Mid Life, I know the pout. Have Hotckis on living room floor. This weekend? C'mon oversteer!
