fake mp3...

how can you tell if its really an mp3 and not just some ol' protege with a kit or conversion? i'm a noob so please help.

the mp3 has a badge on the side, it's blazing yellow (i think) or lazer blue mica, engine valve cover, other than that, i'm not sure. the badge and the ecu is the key, i think everything else can be converted.

MP3 interiors are, as far as I know, totally unique! Look for the Nardi Torino badge on the steering wheel, the Kenwood z919 headunit, the fake 'carbon fiber' dash trim strips, the pretty silver vinyl inserts in the seats, the MP3 floormats.. also the trunk badge, side badges, amber sidemarkers, lack of sidemoldings, bright red swaybars under the car.. hm.. that's all I can think of for right now.

Try the registration plate inside the drivers side door. Or the completely painted doors and mirrors. The interior is a dead give away.

like they said, the interior gives it away, but also, the stock sub woofer, check the springs and struts,, if they look around two years old, hehe, they are mp3 material.

just dont get fooled.

never believe a car dealer!
"mp3 stands for mazda protege 2003"
*sigh* its okay! i was just misinformed about the mp3. basically the mp3 is the "special", or "limited" edition, right?

i will live on and just try to make my lil sedan into an mp3...:(

if they lied to you about your car, give them hell, that's ****** up. the mp3 was only in the 2001 model year so if they sold you a 2003 mp3, get your money back.

Yikes, you got duped. You should really go back to that dealer and let them know what you think if you feel burned. That's bs. If you were under the impression you were getting a limited production MP3 and ended up with a pro (although a great car in it's own right) I would be enraged. However, this is a good reminder to always do your homework. I think we all know dealers aren't always the most honest retailers in the world.

man that sucks...next time I try to get a car a car I'm gonna ask for a bj with it...seems like they'll do anything to get you to buy from them now
