Fading/Cracking clear coat (2018 CX-5)

:
2014 Mazda CX-5 GT w/ Tech
2018 cx-5. Machine grey. The plastic spoiler at top of hatch is peeling. The plastic piece. Anyone else? Is it easy to remove and sand and repaint?

Unless you're going to paint it yourself, just take it to a good body shop. They'll deal with taking it off.

Bummer though, that this has happened to you on a newish car. Must've been a fault in the original painting.

7 years car is not that new. Just saying.
We dont know how it has been maintained as well. Cracking of clear coat is almost always a bad repaint job. Rarely a manufacturers defect.

To the OP, machine gray is multi tone paint. Almost impossible to pain on your own so the suggestion above to use good reputable shop is valid

Well, it's 6 years old (or possibly even 5, depending on when bought), but I was more comparing it to our 2014, which has no cracking or peeling.
And I'll bet yours is garage-kept and the OP's sits outside 24/7. Makes all the difference with paint and headlight lens longevity.

2018 model production started the previous year in mid 2017. Most brands do that.

This is the big question. Is the car outside, or garaged? Is it washed and waxed regularly? I have had zero issues with my Machine Grey cars. 19 and 21 have both been great, but they are garaged and get a spray wax every time they get washed, which is weekly.

This is the third post I've seen about a Machine Gray CX-5 having this issue on the spoiler. Can't be coincidence or user error.

Actually, no it's not. My classic car keeps the garage occupied. All our Mazdas have to stay outside in all weathers, poor things. (Where's that sticky-out tongue emoticon? Oh, right, here: :P )
