Factory sub RCA passthrough not working

I'm having issues with my factory MP3 sub and the pass through outputs (RCA) not working. Has anyone else run across this? I can't get any signal out of them.

What kind of amp were you using the through puts for?
High pass or low pass?

i also tried to hook an amp up through the factory sub and had no signal. the stock cd player has no rca jacks so the only thing i figured out was to splice into the speakers. thats all i know. hope it may be of some help.

If you have a protege MP3 it has 3 pairs of RCA outputs. That signal is going to be low pass only.

I was trying to hook up a 12" to give the bass a little lower growl. Ends up I just removed the 10 because it was pissing me off. The "pass-through" doesn't work. It's crap. I've gone to a Kenwood 829 (100x2, 300x1) and am down to a single 12" RF XLC Punch in a sealed box. Great lows, but now I'm considering putting 8"s on the rear deck to add some mid-bass.
Any thoughts?

8's on the rear deck will rattle like crazy with-out some good reinforcing. If you want better midbass i'd suggest a good componet set and elimate the 6x9's on the deck...use them as pass throughs for the bass from the trunk. a good componet set with an amp will amaze you with increased highs and mid-bass. something with a mid-bass speaker around 5 1/4 or 6 inches will do. Unless you wanna do like 8" mid-basses in the kick panels.

8'' mid basses in the rear will definitly ive you midbass, but hes right in that you will have alot of rattles. Also midbasses in the rear will pull the sound stage behind you. I wouldn't do it for this reason alone but the stock setup already images behind you so if it doesn't bother you then go for it.

The best combo is always to get component speakers in kick panels up front and midbasses in the front doors. Its also extreamly expensive and time consuming.

A good set of 6 1/2 components with 50 watts rms apeice will give you alot of midbass. Sounds like you don't have another amp for the speakers just one for the sub. If this is the case start with a good set of 6 1/2 components, I'm talking $300 and up but trust your own ears in what you select for speakers. I run MB quart Q's but they need alot of juice to pump, atleast 100 watts rms a peice. I give them 150.

To sum it up try a 6 1/2 component, 51/4s are too small, first.
Then amp them then think about 8's

i had the same problem on mine for a while...what it ended up being was that the sub pre-out was turned off in the headunit somehow....while listening to the radio..press and HOLD the AM button for 3 seconds..you should see a notification message on the headunit that the sub was turned off or on..let me know if that worked.

I have a set of 6.5 Polk audio MM465 in the front of my 97 protege. They sound great. I had a pair of just normal polk audio GXR midbass in the doors, when i replaced them with the Momo's, i could tell a big difference in SQ. I faded my cd player to the front and turned it up, almost the whole way, and i couldn't hear any distortion in the speakers.
