Hi, this is my first time actually posting on these forums, but I've been reading them for a while and I think that some of you could help me solve a problem that I have.

I installed an F5 Fujita intake on my car three days ago (04 2.3L mtx), and now I seem to be having some trouble with it. I followed the directions exactly as they said and I was careful with the MAF sensor, but now my car seems to be holding back when i accelerate. It literally will take about 10 seconds to go from 30-40 in 2nd. My poor car has lost its "zoom-zoom" ness

The day I installed it i had a CEL, but then i bought some hose clamps for the breather hose, greased the seal on the MAF, and tightened everything down and it went away, and I've been CEL free for two full days. The strange thing is, it seemed to be running smoother WITH the CEL

If you guys could give me some suggestions what to do or what the problem could be I would greatly appreciate it. I'd hate to have to send it back.(dunno)

i remember the F5 had to be redesigned because it kept causing CELs. You should email them so you could get the replacement.

Also, make sure your MAF wires are loose (un clip them from the battery box).

How do I know if I have the old one or not? I only ordered it less than 2 weeks ago from ptuning.com. Also, I did disconnect the MAF wires from the battery box to give it more space when i greased the seal.

Today though, i was noticing what seemed to be a whistling or hissing noise coming from what i thought was near the air filter. Any ideas on that? Is something loose?

the maf is directional, maybe you have it on backwards?? we've seen this before!!

there's not enough slack on the maf wiring to accidentally invert the MAF sensor.

04zoom3, here's Fujita's contact info-- E-MAIL: info@f5air.com TEL: (951)694-9177 FAX (951)694-9277

You could also contact ptuning and ask if they can send you the redesigned tubing because the one you have keeps causing a CEL (i think the redesign caused the diameter to go from 3" to 2.75" plus a tubing bend redesign) I wonder if you can have it returned. The hissing could be caused by a weak seal on the clamp(s) or there could be a gaping hole in the filter. Not sure at the moment.

I'm currently working with Ricardo to set up a group buy on the F2 3" intake. It's designed so the tubing's 3" but it won't cause the MAF to throw a CEL.

I haven't had a CEL in three days now, which is why I'm confused about what it could be. I think i'll just call or e-mail Fujita and see what's up, or else just try and get them to send me a new one.

Oh and I live in Beverly Hills, MI

Check if your intake has a serial # on the box. You can use that info to find out if you got the redesigned tubing (and your engine was just not used to the new amount of air coming in causing a CEL at first) or you got the old design. I suggest giving them a call so you get to talk to a rep right away.

I called Fujita today and checked the product number with them. It turns out I have the old intake, but he said that if I e-mail him he'll give me full instructions on how to get the redesigned one shipped out to me asap. Hopefully it works out and my car will actually accelerate lol.

that's great to hear. i thought ptuning had all the redesigned kits already.

BTW, anyone thinking of buying the Fujita intakes on ebay, NO! The bad ones are probably being unloaded there, and with probably no warranty, you're screwed.
