well...after hearing about the whole cold air triggering the computer....it's the last straw....i've waited patiently....but after hearing the delay till december and now this....who knows when we'll get the car and for that matter....who knows how reliable it will be.....this is what you get when you try to develop a car this quickly without properly testing it.....i found a guy who's gonna give me a bare bones 2003 wrx for $22,000.....f*** Mazda...i'm getting a WRX

I don't blame you. But I'll give you a little known tip on how to get your WRX at invoice price. Go to www.imba.com and join their club for $25 per year and you can purchase a WRX through the VIP program for invoice. You will save over $3000 for a measly $25 membership.

big_ben,

Great tip. The bad thing is that you have to be a member for at least 6 months to qualify for this.

Thanks!

Jonny

6 months isn't that long, also, by then the new WRX might be out. Wouldn't that be nice if you could get the STI at invoice!

I am just saying it is bad for these people jumping ship. I have a feeling the MSP is going to be here before 6 months......at least I hope it will be. ;)

ok folks... now dont take this the wrong way and shun me!! but.... everytime i see a wrx i still kinda get a little feeling inside me that says "maybe you should have gotten that turbo awd beast instead of this badass funky fresh super sexy big pimpin mp3..."

its alot of car for the money... but it just doesnt really appeal to me visually... it doesnt have the import style that the mp3 does... but its fast and it handles... and its a damn good car...

and for those planning on jumping ship, think long and hard about it.. especially if you elect to go w/ big ben's tip on that imba site... because as was pointed out by jonnymiata, you will still be waiting six mo for the wrx... which will be longer than it would have taken for the msp

How does that statement go........Patience is a Virtue? If you can't wait a few months for a mazdaspeed protege then you don't deserve one.

Not saying this towards anyone but I'd rather have one of the few mazdaspeed protege than one of the tens of thousands of UGLY wrxs that are driving around there.

it's not the waiting...i don't mind that so much....it's the way mazda is dealing with it...and the problems they are having with the car.....i wouldn't mind waiting if i knew the car was developed and tested as it should be....but from seeing all the problems they are having and the fact that they didn't take into account some of the obvious things that are happening it just worries me that we might not be getting a quality finished product...i don't want a prototype test car that they work the bugs out of next year.....bugs that should've been worked out during testing....this was the point i was making....not waiting......cars get delayed...i know this....just the circumstances and the way the delay has been dealt with is what worries me and pisses me off

I still think that if they find the problem before the car ships good for you...I'd wait for that.

If they find after the ships, bad for you, because you will be in the shop getting it fixed, not driving it like you should be.

Be glad its fixed before and not after you get the car.

i don't want a prototype test car that they work the bugs out of next year.....bugs that should've been worked out during testing....this was the point i was making....not waiting

That's understandable....I guess that you could either buy a suby now or wait to see if they make the protege next year. Then you'd have plenty of time to save money and pay in cash.

Hey guys here is a tip, if any of you have a Costco membership (I'm in CA, I don't know if there is costcos any where else) then you can get a car through them at 500 dollars over invoice. That is how I got my P5. Something to think about. The only thing that might be a problem is that not all dealerships work with costcos car program, so you have to go to the one that is closest to you. Luckily for me, the dealership was only 30 minutes away, and they are the only mazdaspeed certified dealership in the area! So I think they work with only good car dealerships with a great Rep.

GLX,
Did you see the review in the paper yesterday? I'm down here in Raleigh for Tday and this review was terrible. They used stock photos that have been out for months and didn't even drive it. They basically just stated what modifications had been made over the MP3 and base Protege. That, plus the fact that they blew one fact completely. They said that only 2000 were being made (correct) but that every one of them was orange. I'm sure someone let them know they were wrong. I was psyched to show my parents the rave reviews but the article didn't bring anything new to the table. Boo, I say, Boo.
