extreme speed hard pipes?

Border fees and tariffs??? I don't know what you guys pay over there on the East coast but I have never paid anything more than the GST and PST on any of my last dozen purchases that I have brought across. Basically if you don't tell them where it's made and that it's just car parts they only charge you the GST and PST. That's too bad your paying all those extra fees.

My numbers were based on me going into a Canadian shop and paying regular retail prices over the counter ... Bullit you may be right about the cost savings of getting something shipped, but I figure that import/export rules are Canadian and subject to NAFTA so can't see how there'd be a provincial difference - Next time I'll order from the US and see what happens! Glad I JUST started modifying.... and still super happy that I got my stuff from ES. They're a "local" shop for me, so even if they actually ARE more expensive I have no problem paying for excellent quality stuff and the expertise that comes with it. Plus that I can hang out at the shop while my stuff is being built is a huge bonus... Cheers

right... then you have to get the BOV, flange, recirculation fitting, hoses, the bracket for the lil thingy by the TB, all the metal vacum line nipples and then have everything welded on and polished. then you still have to go out and buy an intake... the ES pipes come with a CAI. now lets see where you stand
 
Oh God, it's the Martha Stewart pipes. I'm not down with the crackled look at all... *shudder*

They look better and are cheaper then Essentials

Any idea what they're made of, and what the coating is? For comparison, I know that ES is stainless steel and you can get a variety of coatings including Ceramic, polished, and Powder coated ... I don't want to turn this into a war of who's pipes are better - my original post was simply to present an alternative that I have and am very happy with, not to start another SRI vs. CAI type debate... So having said that, if there are any other ES specific questions that come up I'll do what i can to answer, but I'll back out of this thread otherwise... Cheers.
 
theyre more than likely regular mild steel which is cheap as hell... i see no other reason why they wouldnt state what the pipes are made of or offer the pipes in the coating stock unless theyre trying to hide something. i dont feel like starting a war either but if you lived in canada then youd know that the pricing for the ES pipes is fair compared to everything else... and nothing beats the guy being local

I think they are stainless steel and are powder coated. I can't say the pipes are any better then anyone elses. Essential and Extreme have relatively the same pipes with the exception that Essential come with its own CAI and Extreme with the h34 BOV has a recirculation fitting that fits on an Injen CAI. I like my pipes and the Martha Stewart effect myself. I also still have the turkey as probably Essential does. So don't worry about a war.....I think I am the only one with these pipes, that are speaking up anyways.

LzrBlu, I was checking out the extreme speed pipes, and that Greddy Type S they have in the picture is basically in the same location as the stock BPV, right? Is the recirculation fitting you mentioned something you'll have to add to your injen yourself?

I'm just researching, and seems to me that Extreme makes good pipes. Still waiting on CORKSPORT to make theirs, because they say the'll get rid of the turkey right out of the box with a dual bpv/bov setup.

At any rate, thanks for the good info!

With the Greddy Bov I am not too sure how it recirculates. I would assume it would be a hole made in the flange to recirculate before the bov. With the Turbo XS H34 bov is similiar to the Turbo XS RFL but instead of a horn it has a fitting that you put a rubber hose in and it goes into the injen piping that use to hook up to your other side of your stock bpv. I will include a picture of my setup to give you an idea. Sorry about the sizes

Hrm...that's odd. How long ago did you buy your pipes? Here's the pic they've got on their site now:

It's got the GReedy on the turbo=>IC pipe, and a stubby little recirculation fitting. This would seem ideal since it would allow you to install a secondary BOV or BPV on your IC=>TB pipe and eliminate the turkey. Looks like I need to send them an e-mail!

Heh, I'd forgotten this thread was originally about Extreme Speed anyway, so I'm NOT sorry about the threadjack! :)
 
I know exactly what you mean. I called Extreme Speed right after I got the pipes to ask the same question. The picture on the website is the first hard pipes they designed. What I have is the new design.

lzr: did that "new" design kit get rid of the turkey? looks exactly like what i want. but only if it gets rid the gobble.

No it doesn't get rid of the turkey. Maybe with further modification of the recirculated BOV it will. Let us all know if you find a system that does get rid of the turkey. As for me...I still like the turkey (for shock affect)
 
DZnutz - FYI, with our FMIC kit you do not need to run a BOV. You can replace the stock BPV with either a Bosch unit off a VW/Audi or you can also get an TXS RBV-25 which are all direct replacements. If you want the BOV sound, try the Turbosmart Hybrid 50/50 BOV/BPV
