Experiences with vta bovs

Now, before you bash, I understand how bypass valves and blow off valves work, and I know that generally blow-off valves aren't good for my car. Now that we are through that....

I have a turbo xs 50/50 hybrid valve, but I want more volume from it, and I love the distinctive sounds that the GReddy Type-S and HKS SSQ make in full vta and really want to run one of them.

So I am looking for people to post up their experiences with full vta bovs on the mazdaspeed3, 6, or CX. Thanks in advance.

i have a turbosmart dual port and i feel like its still a very loud unit. Are u looking for a more distinct sound or just plain loud WHOOOOSH? seems like you're leaning more to a distinct different sound.....

i have the turboxs h-rfl vta its great! i have the standback to pull fuel between shifts you need that or youll pop out the tail pipe alot

i have the hks VTA and have had no problems at all with it. I monitor my command afr's and the actual afr's on my dash hawk and they are right on the money with one another.

that impossible dude, you will run rich between shifts if your vta.. you telling me it hasn't poped out the tail pipe? i'm not sayen your lien i'm just saying i don't see how that possible? the intake is not getting a bunch of air that the ecu thinks its supposed to between shifts this cuases a rich condition.

its not big deal to run vta except the richness (without a tuning solution) will ruin your cats... if your catless then no worries

i never said it did or didnt pop, i do get the occasional pop. More so when its cold though, since it has started to warm up it barely ever does it. and according to my DH the command and actuall afr's are running the same at shifts .

i think it ran alot differently when i first put it on in that it had more "simptoms" then it does now, i barely ever get a pop from the exhaust or anything. after over 10k miles with it on i think the computer has adapted to running vta almost. atleast thats what it seems like.

I have run the HKS and Synapse in VTA and both sound cool. I did it with the Standback pulling fuel and also not pulling fuel on the HKS. There were occasional bucks and stuff that make it seem like you can't drive for s***. I have a Synapse recirced right now, it will absolutly not run in VTA on our cars. My wideband (true standalone not dashhawk) still sees a rich spot with every shift but I don't get the drivability problems of VTA.

Yeah, I know it's ricey but I have always loved the GReddy type-s bov and might be buying one, so I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were. I think the best thing to do it stick to me txs and move forward rather than spend money to re-do what I already did.

i had a greddy type s vta...ran like s***
had an hks vta ...ran like s***
i tested a forge vta valve and the car actually ran 100% perfect.
i didnt keep it though because i am smart enough to not run vta. i wont bash, i'm just saying it ...bad idea.

Might as well save some cash on fuel while your at it and put 89octane in the car. Our car was not designed for VTA.....it's a bad idea unless you have a SB to adjust for it's use.

well lestat you can run the type s without changing the front piece. i have a greddy type s on mines running perfect our stock bpv hose will fit over the greddy type s tip so you will still get the sound and it still recircs

VTA ALL THE WAY!!!! Anyone can say whatever they want. The first mod I did was HKS SSQ VTA at about 2000 miles...I'm now at 20,000 and I have never had an issue. AFR's are fine and yes there are the pops and it runs rich...but who doesn't like an occasional pop or backfire when you are WOT! The rich issue won't get fixed until you tune the car. I'm sorry but I haven't listened to anyone on this issue since back when I bought the car in Oct. of 06. My car was the first off the truck and the first to the dealer where I am. Like I said 20,000 strong...Just do the VTA and enjoy it. I have a boost gauge and wideband to monitor the AFRs. Just pay attention to the car and you'll be fine. Comence the bashing guys...

Amen to that, :p I run a Greddy Type S VTA, I admit I get an occasional pop when I'm driving slow but other than that no pops.

i run hks vta the only time i ever get the pops is wen i lightly step on the pedal and let go real quick... other than that no other pops...

Ive got the CP-E bov and im runnin vta with the recirc side facing outwards(was mistake at first but said f it and it ended up leaving it, didnt wanna mess with that mother fing pos cockgobbling c ring) and it is prettttttttty loud. People unfamiliar with turbo cars ride with me and think my s**** gonna break down. The sound is great other than the occasional pop once or twice a day.

Ive had more drivablity issues running, recuirc on my HKS than i do VTA. Cant figure that one out, unless the flutter that the SSQV is known for causes the car ti freak out. Aside from the bad for your cat argument, all ive ever heard is that "our car wasnt designed for it" and no ones given any real reason that its "not a good idea".

I almost choked to death on my eggs laughing at this. Good stuff.
