Exhaust Specs Greddy v. RB v. JIC

I'm trying to figure out which catback I want to buy for my P5. I'm down to Greddy Evo, Racing Beat, and JIC 505 sus.

The RB Dyno specs are on their site but can't find anything "official" on the others.

Also I read somewhere on here that the Racing Beat is heavy ~50lbs and the JIC is light ~20lbs, any ideas on Greddy

Any help would be appreciated.

Thx

yeah weight is an issue. go the lightest one you can...if you can find it, get 6061 aluminium - it's 60% of the weight of titanium (raw metal)

hope this helps

Give enough time and poor conditions virtually any metal is going to have its issues. I live in St. Louis so we get the full spectrum of weather.

Anybody have Dyno results for the Greddy and JIC (both SUS and ST if you've got them).

The racing beat is ~ +5 for hp and torque, which seems pretty decent for our cars, I figure thats probably what the others are around but one never knows. I like to have all the info before I'm going to drop $400-800

The Greddy tip is too big though. Its 4.5", that's huge for our cutout. How big are the RB and JIC tips?

I'm buying Kooldinos RB Exhaust this weekend. I'll let you know if I feel any difference in the "butt-dyno". I'll be adding an Injen CAI next month too.

The JIC will be the lightest and flow the best out of all three exhaust systems. I just know cause I've had a JIC system on so many applications and the results were the same on all apps.

Anyways, I can't dyno cause I have other mods and don't have a dyno in house. I would have to install and de install at the dyno. Don't have time for that.

the JIC is not obnoxious either. Well let me know if you're interested in either of these systems. I know JIC will have the best results for you.

My JIC tip is 100mm. so that equates to around 3 1/4", fits in the cutout nicely.

For the most bang for your buck I'd get the JIC. Its completely stainless. Polished, looks damn sexy. Weight is next to nothing, i could pick it up and walk around the house and not be strained, wish the stock system was that light. Plus the JIC is around 2.5" so its large enough that if you wish to go forced induction later on you won't have to change exhaust systems.

No flame intended but 100mm is close to 4 inches, I've search all over this forum for pics of the Greddy on the car.

I've found pics of the JIC and Racing Beat installed. I'd like to see whether Greddy looks truly obnoxious or not. Anybody know of a pic.

i have the hks hi power axle back. its awsome...we really dont need a cat back on are car's unless you plan on going f.i later on.

f.i. is a possibility but probably not for a few years. Maybe a wet nitrous system sooner for some fun at the track.

The TeamMoon and Greddy are the only ones that actually have mufflers and tips right?, not the HKS canistor style exit. I really have a hate on for those stupid N1/Skunk/Thermal/ every car in Richmond style exhausts. They are totally overpopulating Vancouver, and I personally don't like the look as much as a traditional muffler/tip combo.

Is the JIC a canistor style as well?

From pics I've seen.

Racing Beat/Mazdaspeed, SR Motorsports, Borla/Bosal, Thermal, TeamMoon, and Greddy are more muffler/tip style.

HKS, JIC, Skunk2, Ractive, 5Zigen are more N1 canister style.

So what's the difference? Which will do more of what (sound, power)? Or is it just a matter of looks?

Typically what I've seen is the N1 style produce more power, and are basically what you see the magazine's put on their project cars (anecdotal info). N1 also refers to where the style came from N1 Racing, if that gives you any insight. I think N1 tend to be a little louder, but not always in a bad way. Do a search for the JIC sound clip you'll see what I mean.

But I would imagine a properly engineered traditional style could put out as much.

On our cars you're probably not talking more than about a 1-7 increase to hp and torque. More from a catback less from an axleback (I'd want to see dyno's of people claiming 10 on a stock 2.0L plus catback).

So after that you're basically looking at style, quality, and sound.

Virtually anything will be an improvement over stock.
