Exhaust Manifold Bolts

hey guys,

wanted to ask for advice on taking off certain exhaust manifold bolts. there are 2 left i need to get off the ex mani. both are to the driver's side of the car.

the first one is the bottom of the last set towards the driver's side. it is giving me trouble because i can't seem to fit a torque wrench in there with the oil line in the way. i have a crescent combo wrench, but i cant get a good grip on the bolt without potentially stripping it while applying pressure.

second, is the last one towards the driver's side. this one is by itself, but because the turbo is so close i can't get a torque wrench + deep socket to fit in the small space. same concern with the crescent.

could anyone provide any input that might assist with this issue? i am doing a stock turbo swap because my turbo blew last week. so if anyone has any advice on taking out the stock turbo, i would appreciate that too.

thanks in advance!

14mm ratcheting wrenches are your best friend. Its the only thing I used to get all those bolts off. Along with some PB blaster. Helps if you take out the battery and turbo inlet.

i will give it a try again with the ratcheting wrenches. thanks for the input. quick question: my o2 sensors are shot from the oil spilling into the downpipe. would i be ok driving around for a few days until my new ones arrive? i think the front o2 sensor monitors the a/f ratios and more. i don't want anything to mess up, more than it already has, lol.

i just ordered a set of those.. you inspired me to do it. but im sure they'll come in handy and for the price, even if one of those sockets ends up broken, thats not bad.

hmm... might need to check that out. thanks for the info.

Im about to head to Harbor Freight to buy this. Thanks for showing me this. Hopefully taking the mani off will be a million times easier now.
