Excelon??? What Exelon!?!

:
03 MSP > 03.5 MSP > 05 Evo8 GSR > 10 EvoX MR-t > 96 MX-5
now in the brochure i have read that our headunit was of a Kenwood Excelon family, BUT..............IT IS NOT !!!

i have the brochure in my hands right now, and it does say exelon. When i went to look at a sub upgrade the guy in the sound shop told me that my head unit was NOT Excelon. So i'm like WTF, this guy doesnt know what he's talking about..........
Came home and went on Kenwood site............it's true.............NOT EXCELON!!!

Isnt that missadvertising?

I would definately have to agree with you that it is false advertising if it says it in the book, but in reality it isn't.
i didn't know that. that is a bunch of :bs:

I noticed it was not an excelon like the brochure said the day i got it!
And it is not a special Kenwood ,I saw the sam radio at best buy right after i got my car on display and for sale!
IDENTICAL!
It is misleading if not false advertisement Though!
Matt:)

What brochure are you talking about.
I ahve never seen it refered to as a Excelon unit nor does the part number indicate it would be.
KDC-MP919
for and excelon unit the part number must be KDC-X***
No "X" no excelon.

could it be that it is a special version of the excelon line only available in this car?

Only the MP3 had an excelon unit :p

It is just a discounted model from Kenwood. Still nice though not everything needs to be "special" to be nice.
Always thought the X models had the retractable face while the normal MP919 had the simple remove face plate. Oh well.

Nope.

K - Kenwood
D - Deck
C - CD Player
MP - MP3 Player
X - Excelon

Actually alot of review for the MSP show it as being a Excelon, course we all know most mags don't know jack chit.

Ya know the X meant Excelon, just thought the MP919 had a simple remove faceplate and the X919 had the retractable. Oh well, guess they both have it.

i believe the speakers were supposed ot be excelon, i saw excelon in brochures and never saw an excelon unit in any cars, demo prototype or production

In the mazdaspeed brochures it is called excelon.

what god damn brochures...i have 2 different ones sitting right in front of me and it doesnt mention anything excelon, doesnt even say MP919, just says Kenwood head unit

my brochures did say excelon but i knew it wasnt cuz the MP919 isnt in that line, neither is our sub size. i believe the MP3 had excelon components but mazda cheapened out at the last minute and put the regular stuff in the MSPs

The 2003 brochere. If i remember correctly (ill check to make sure if im not right) open up the brochere so that you are looking at the black mica msp. On the top where it explains the audio system it says excelon.

The speakers in the MSP are the only thing that may be Excelon but even the MP3 did not have excelon speakers.

Likely there is not one piece of excelon equipmnet in the MSP.

Everything in it is standard Kenwood. The 919 has alot of the same features as the Excelon units, but Excelon also had multi color dispaly instead of just the blue.
