FYI I have driven my friend's evo and STI. He has a 11.7 sec STI and a 12.5 sec EVO both using 114 octane racing fuel.... over 70k in the car each.... The EVO is his wife's car....

i've gotta call bs on 12.5 second evo and 11.7 sti with racing fuel and 70k. big bs. not to mention the fact that the ecu on the STi was just recently cracked to make it more responsive to mods. 70k in each car and those numbers? c'mon, that's ridiculous.

but hey, what do i know? i'll believe it when i see reciepts that add up to 70k in each car, evidence of dyno tuning which, as evo or sti owners, you HAVE to do post-modding. then show me a time slip after 70k of work that shows those numbers.

hmmmm...maybe where you live but in Orlando they are selling like hot cakes (esp the silver). I think one can be had for a few grand more then a WRX. Not sure but I will check tommorow....Im sure its gettign cheaper.

I just saw that infor on Car and Driver....same out put just lighter car...and it said it was more expensive...just by a grand or two.

How can the RS be more?! they take out all that s***, and charge you more for it? HELL no, the only thing upgraded on the RS is the center diff, which is replaced by an active one. Hmmm, get rid of all that s*** and they want me to pay more... WTF

^^^no, the car is about 27 starting. they didn't uprade the center diff, they added a front diff.

that would make a godly amount of more sense. my bad if i misread that. damn they drive a lot.

anyway, it'll probably come down to something like if you're more into straight line performance or handling.... test drive both!

hey man i admitted they were faster than me and most other cars, but that doesnt mean i have to like them. and being a car enthusiast has nothing to do w/ repecting every car if some suck.....ahem like the srt, but anyways there is no point in trying to keep up w/ the stupid horse power numbers they put out especially when they come with close to 100 horse power more than the msp, so i dont know why you would even state that all i said is that the srt is going to bite the dust and hard, mark my words they will. and im not sure who said that the block was tested to 1000 horse power, but come on man are you absolutley stupid no way on this earth is that possible i have heard of very little stock factory cars blocks being able to handle that much and even those cars cost more than you ever hope to afford! so i'll tell you what somebody try it and see what happens, i dare ya!

My bad, i knew they added a diff though. But i still contend the RS costs less than the regular evo 8

THat was the whole theory for the RS... a more sport oriented vehicle without all the amenities. So It's cost less. (not much though). Also the srt block did handle 1000hp, but that was with TONS of work to the internals. It rare that a block get tore up by boost pressure alone or hp, it usually goes because of broken internals going ways it shouldn't.....

you idiot- name fits you well man! and real valid point you bring up there, do you have nothing to add because merely you know nothing about whats going on, or simply because you own an srt and are pissed off because i dont like them. either way dont post unless you have something valid to state in the argument.

Get an EVO... so much better looking -->

Sti rules

Driven the Sti lots of times, it's just amazing! Also the interior is way nicer than the evo! As for the neon, sure it does 0-60 in 5.5sec but with a few rain dops... i don't think it'll do anything against an Sti or Evo. I've launched an Sti in pouring rain and that b**** launched like a rocket!! We don't get the Evo in Canada! But if we did, i would get it just cuz I would race my best friends Sti :p
I've seen an Srt-4, it doens't have the respect yet on the road, people still go.. "look at the souped up neon... hahha!" As the Sti is a head turner and gets the respect wherever it goes! :D

Umm ur getting ripped... i wouldn't buy an evo at msrp... u can get it for 28k out the door cause of mitsubishi incentives... dont be stupid i am an evo fan

STI!!!! all the way and for the neon it's still a neon. i know that some of you are tired of hearing that but come on. the car is fast as s***, dont get me wrong, but it is still a NEON. i wouldnt mind sporting one but i would have to lower the car as soon as i got it off the lot cause when you look at the back, it looks like you can go off roading. the NEON has gone a long way but it is still a neon, maybe in a few years...... but it can also go the other way too...... i would much rather have my msp then the srt. give me the aem ecu and double digit psi and i'll take an srt anyday. anyway, that's my opinion and personally i like the STI over the evo.

If it was my $$$ I would get an 03Cobra... "Flame Suit on" :)

But for this discussion I would get the STI :p

soooo, someone didn't read my post,

"see, the thing is, the evo's in north america dont' have the super active yaw control like the ones in the UK, that's the only reason that makes the EVO so fast a track car. so, i'd get the STI and take the 300hp, with active diffs'n intercooler spray buttons, and the better interior. (the evo has the spray button too but with the gear box you can't really tell where u are sometimes if yur rushed....

ps. about the SRT-4, good luck driving that 2.4L 215hp in the winter with that FWD,
as oppose to 2.5L 300hp with active center diff that lets you shift power from 50/50 AWD to 40/60 AWD."

SRT-4's a good car, i'm jus sayin' i'd get and STI cuz it's a bettah car :)

oh yeah,
6 speed manual > 5 Speed manual
300hp 300lb/ft > 215hp 245lb/ft
Boxer Engine > Inline-4
Brembo non-fade 4-piston brakes > no name 2 piston
Variable AWD > FWD
Oversized intercooler /w manual/auto spray > nothing
Masculine bodystyling > silly wanna look fast
plus the back of the SRT-4 looks like wayyyyyyyyy to high,

sorry, i'm sticking to the neon
i mean.... SRT-4
NOT,
STI's are so much bettah

Lets compare the price difference

STi- 31k SRT-4 19,995.

You may be right, but its in a totally different class of car.

And all this RS evo talk, about being lighter and faster, did anyone mention why?
You get NO creature comforts. No radio, no A/C, no sound dampening, and the list goes on and on.
If you wanna buy a brand new car without all that, then go for it, but im not going to.

Oh yea, BTW, this thread officially sucks.

The SRT-4 is a damn nice car, good build quality, dodge is backing mods, and its fast, and the 2004 will handle pretty damn well.

I dont ever wanna hear anyone tell me its just a neon, because then you know nothing about the car, and are making yourself look stupid.
I used to say the SAME thing about it, and then i did some research, and talked to some people and learned.
Until you do that, STFU about it being just a neon.

Oh yea, the MSP is just that.. its JUST a protege... ;)

ok whatever i like this board too much to ruin any friendships or good terms that i have here so the srt ****** rocks and so does the sti and evo and rs. can this thread now be shut down it totally sucks!

hey i still think that the neon is still a neon. i would most deffinitly rock an srt but no matter what they do to the engine suspension or whatever, to me it is still a neon. i dont like the body style and that is why i say it is still a neon. not because the car is crap (it isnt) but because the body is a neon. what dodge has done for the srt is awesome. they finally got a "balls to the wall" street racer stock for only 20k. im just not a fan of the body styling. that is why i say "it is still a neon". hope that clearifies my stand point on all this, but think what you want, and s*** my friend just sent me a link to a neon forum and they had an srt with 400 something hp and tq so tell me that isnt good for a NEON.
