And how many complaints have you guys had in the MP3 and the MSP for suspention squeek etc. I bet you that we have less comlpaints for our whole car than you have had for the suspention alone not counting the turbo lag problems etc. etc.
Oh and By the way I now own an SRT,Solar yellow to be exact. and love every bit of it. I now have a FACTORY BACKED upgrade in stage 1, which for the misinformed is a PCM and bigger injectors, it alone added 30 HP for 300 bucks can't beat it. SO any other complaints, I would be glad to take them all!!!! so bring on the SRT bashing just don't use the lame excuse of it being a
NEON cause your car is just a protege also!!
word man.. I actually like the srt.. s***, its fast as **** stock,and it seems that dodge is actually helping ppl mod the car... (different stage packages)... I wish mazda would do that :( the suspension is actually very good as well. so yeah, if you can get over the fact that its a neon, its a VERY good car... faster than my msp :(... until the twisties ;)
 
ok first off, the srt is faster, yes this we know........but even if it has tokico's does it have sway bars and a strut bar to back that up because i dont think so! suspension may be better than a stock neon but cant be compared to the mp3 or msp's. secondly horse power isnt the only thing needed when youbuy a car styling comes into mind, and the srt is just on ******* ugly ass car period inside and out (my opinion). msp's and mp3 no matter what to me are the best choice and i love every bit of my boosted mp3. and by the way at least mazda isn't trying to hide that they are proteges hence the mazda Protege 3 (mp3) or Mazdaspeed Protege (msp) and srt-4 is just srt-4 whats up with that at least our mazda's arent embarassed of themselves!
 
SuperSpud you the man. it just gets old when all you hear is people say it's just a NEON. when in fact that's farther from the truth. PVO is who designed the suspention, engine etc. they put the R&D into it to make it a great car.
and Nothing against the MAZDAs I have always been and will always be a MAZDA FAN. I miss my MP3 i put a lot of money into her and loved it. But I wanted something Different. I SRT came along and I was sold when I test drove it for the first time!!!! The interior is not as bad as you think. It's got Viper seats in it for gods sake. Oh and as far as the autocross portion of the argument the SRT is not that far off of the MSP yes not as good but not far off!!!
 
Dodge is not embareesed about anything. Dodge has had a racing history back into the 60's. THE SRT IS THE PERFORMANCE BRAND OF DODGE. PVO makes the SRT-10 VIPER, SRT-10 RAM, SRT-4, SOON SRT-8 and the list goes on. The same thing With the MAZDASPEED name is the PERFORMANCE version of a stock car.
Oh and Yes we have independent rear suspension, Yes there is SWAY BARS FORNT AND BACK. and I raced a MSP last year in AUTODROSS and low and behold OH MY GOD I beat it by $ seconds.. and YES he has been racing for at least 6 years!!! it all depends on the driver!!!
 
Get an EVO better gas milage and cheaper. You know why EVOIIIs are going cheap now? Suposidly the 2004 Lancer Evolution RS is suppose to be alot faster. So the old EVOs are outta date...
 
Oh back to subject I think the STI is awsome But the EVO motor has had about 14 Years of mods done to it so it is very easily modable!!!
 
Ok well since you wanted some complaints and wanted to talk trash on the msp and mazda. Dipshit look at the recent car and driver if im not corrected they did a test on the track with a bunch of cars SRT-4 being one of them. The msp owned it on the track. There was a post on it check it out. Showing that not only is it just a neon lol, but also horsepower isnt everything its got to handle good too, to performe well. We can do this all night but nothing will change a SRT-4 is american, meaning more horsepower less handle. Lets admit what american car is made for handeling. OK exactly. We americans only care about the straight line speed, but when it comes down to it they suck overall. Thats my bash and im done.
 
Thats is true...drag racing is laced into american culture. Just like drifting is in Japanese culture...and thats why they care more about handeling. MAzda has always been about handeling and not strightline speed especially the RX-7 and Miata. Dodge always had the viper and charger...both put out some nice torque numbers. I live in florida and its impossible to find a road course...but we have a s*** load of drag strips. And you guess it...mostly american muscle. Not that I have anthing against it...going in a stright line is fun but I think its more about braging rights. Im more about a well balanced car. It just preference...I can't stand NASCAR but I love the WRC, LeMans, and JGTC. I do like Chrysler and Dodge...espeically since Dimler took over...have you seen there 800hp super car (shocked)...now thats badass!

But cant we keep this conversation civil...it was about the STi, EVO and MSP. SRT-4 are fast...but I still think you'll have more fun in the EVO.

kylenls-- might want to research more about a car before bashing it on the net, once you do this you will realize that the srt-4 will not "blow up" as you put it, people have over 60k miles on their srt-4 running above stock boost and have no problems, the tranny and engine are not a typicall neon engine, yes it looks like a neon on the outside but please stop with the "it will blow up after time" stuff.
 
Hey where is the hostility from!!! I love the Mazdaspeed. I just love my car as much as you do. and am tired of the CONSTANT it's just a NEON. AH and WHERE does it say in the OFFICIAL BOOK OF CARS that the SRT can't handle because a car mag says so and that it's just a NEON cause it can't Handle. And for your info I could care less about the Straight line speed the one thing I do have off the Corners is one HELL of a lot of torque to getr off that corner. JUST NO DAMN TRACTION!! LOL. YES America does a lot of catching up to do but they are heading in the right direction!!!
What kind of handlin are you refering to? there is the Dodge viper that has owned Big road racing for years!! yes it is a V-10 but that is a handling car. I'd say over 1g in cornering isn't bad at all!!
The problem with American cars is they are built for horsepower not handling. but they are going in the right direction!!!
 
Yeah, you find moer stuff and info on the EVOs 4g63. I just dont know much about the EJ25. But the STi has some nice goodies too like that DCCD and a 6 speed gearbox.
 
My buddy has a STI but he is a SUBARU guy, anyway he was actually tedering on the EVo but decided to go STI and for him to do that says something for the EVO. I say Evo You have years and somany aftermarket company's support. Mmmmm makes me drool. My SRT has a crap load of support for only being out for maybe a year.
 
you can get the evo to run 11's on stock turbo, ive seen it done, although nitrous will be involved =) I haven't seen any sti's in the 11s as of yet unless someone has a link.(with a stock turbo i mean also)
 
soooo, someone didn't read my post,

"see, the thing is, the evo's in north america dont' have the super active yaw control like the ones in the UK, that's the only reason that makes the EVO so fast a track car. so, i'd get the STI and take the 300hp, with active diffs'n intercooler spray buttons, and the better interior. (the evo has the spray button too but with the gear box you can't really tell where u are sometimes if yur rushed....

ps. about the SRT-4, good luck driving that 2.4L 215hp in the winter with that FWD,
as oppose to 2.5L 300hp with active center diff that lets you shift power from 50/50 AWD to 40/60 AWD."

SRT-4's a good car, i'm jus sayin' i'd get and STI cuz it's a bettah car :)

why would you buy an srt??? maybe to get a hell of a lot of performance for not much money...ugh...and the idea of not buying a car because it doesnt impress other people is sad. really sad. buy a car for yourself, not other people!

i have nothing against the srt...i do wish it had a little better styling, but for the money, it seems like a great car. personally i would not spend the money for an evo or an sti...not a big fan of either...yes...they're good performing cars, but if i was going to spend 30k on a car, those would not be my top choices...

i love the msp...i think it looks so much better than any of its competition. and for the money it is an awesome car. i have no complaints, other than i wish it was a little faster...but that can be fixed! i would definitely take an msp over an srt, evo or sti anyday...

but that kind of thing is just what happens when you compare a car that costs under 20k with one that's 30k
