ets top mount

:
Cosmic Blue MS3
I have the ets top mount on my car and also the awr 88 dr rear mount but when I took the car for a test drive after completing the work I heard a noise and noticed when I popped the hood that the intercooler is ever so barely rubbing the back of the intercooler "shroud" when I get on it and shift hard(not powershifting though). Anyone else with the top mount had this problem and have a solution? Also, going completly to another topic without starting another thread, has anyone noticed that lack of traction issues with this car? I punched it at about 20 and really don't seem to break loose hardly ever, in my srt and even my spec v I broke loose at a 20 punch, would that be a possible answer to why everything breaks like mounts and what not? Lots of power but just won't spin the heavy 18s and the drivetrain takes that abuse instead? Just a thought.

Do you have the 2.25 or 2.5? If you are having clearance issues, probably the 2.5" Its weird that the back is rubbing though. On mine and my friends, its rubbing the front. Do you have all three nuts tightened down all the way?

I just got it, and thought they weren't making the 2.5 anymore and am pretty sure I ordered the 2.25. It only happens if I'm on it though. I went and checked all the bolts but they're down tight as they'll get.

Dont have the tmic, we are boosted limited to 10psi 1st and 2nd, and I hear that even if you turn off the DSC it stays on like 50% so prevents the wheel spin

Mine does sometimes, I'm gonna go and check my awr mount and make sure it didn't break when my tranny mount broke. The dealership said that it broke the bolt but they fixed it but I feel the need to be sure.

merged for your viewing pleasure...

from what nutari is saying is it possible to have the tmic off by 180*?? without seeing one i have no idea but sounds like from what your saying its a viable problem...

Do you plan on removing your TMIC for dealer service? Oil change etc. I was considering having them do my install for the TMIC.

On mine the back edge of the plate surrounding the core was hitting the plastic bit at the front edge of the cowl. I have the AWR mount too. I trimmed 1/4 inch of the back of the plate so it shouldn't hit anymore.

It really is extremely easy, took not even a half hour.

Want your guys opinion...

I thought the ETS top mount came 3.25 or 3.5 inch core? Was wondering if they both fit the same? If they do then wouldn't the bigger core be better? Thinking about getting the 3.5inch core mirror finish from *************** what's everyone thoughts on that? Oh does anyone have pics of the top mount installed?

3.5" core only if you have an upgraded rear mount. Well, you could get a 3.5" core without an upgraded rear mount if you wanted, but you wouldn't like what you may hear coming from the engine bay.

Tire Spin 1st, 2nd no problem

1st and 2nd will both give massive wheel spin when the boost hits. ONly mod I have is the MS-CAI, but I had the wheel spin even before the CAI. Now it spins in 3rd sometimes depending on the road surface (slightly wet etc.).

the rubbing occurs on the firewall due to the shroud around the intercooler (where the rubber moulding sits) i was told by ken at protege garage that they cut the rear section down to make it fit properly.

I cut mine 1/4" and now it is fine.

wheel spin hahaha...you guys can only imagine the wheel spin I get with my mods. I am trying to find this so called upgraded tmic. Where do I get ahold of this mod guys...???

What would be better... the 3.5 or the 3.25. I am thinking of the 3.25 since you get the same amount of gains with either or.
