ETS or SU TMIC?

My bad. I guess when I read of all the fitment issues with the SU TMIC, I assumed that wasn't the case with the ETS. Pretty bad of both companies if you ask me. Why couldn't they just build them so that they easily replace the stocker? doesn't seem like would be all that difficult to me. I'm now having second thoughts. I figured this would be something even I could install. If it's going to be a PITA though... I may need to figure out how much a shop would charge before I drop $600+ on my car.

The TMIC's themselves don't really have a fitment issue, it's just the rear tube. It's not a pain-in-the-ass to test, trim, test, trim but it will take a little more time. I wouldn't let the ill fitting tube be the reason you don't buy a TMIC.

Actually it is the TMIC, the rear metal inlet is angled too shallow. The boost tubes fit the stock IC just fine though.

well tomorrow i am leaving work early since we finally got a break from the rain here in new york to install my su tmic , blue boost tubes, htp polished turbo inlet and my shark fin. i am looking forward to fighting with these tubes lol

In the forced induction forum, we've ordered a replacement rear boost tube that may solve the fitment issues on both the ETS and SU TMIC's. As soon as the tubes arrive, we'll post feedback. If so, the tube is about a 20 dollar fix.

ok so today i installed my su tmic ..su boost tubes..and my htp turbo inlet...and let me say tomarrow i will be calling su and bitching them out about the smaller boost tube behind the motor. i have heard you guys talk about the tube being kinked ..but this was so bad i dont even know how air would of gotten through...and even right now with the stock hose on there its still has a little kink. so i am very upset with how the rear hose came out and i am demanding some kind of refund or something...cant believe they would sell something like that to someone!!! its a p-o-s ....but i do have to say the power you get from the tmic and turbo inlet is amazing.

s*** man... I was just about to place my order too! lol

Do you regret the purchase? Think it would've been better to go with the ETS or would it not have mattered?

Why can't these F'in MFRs design this thing to fit properly?

s*** yea..i regret buying boost tubes...but at the same time i dont regret the power you get from the intercooler...it makes a big difference..and i love it!! right now what i hate is having a rear black tube and a front blue tube..s*** looks silly!!

all i know is su is getting an early phone call from my ass tomorrow and i dont plan to stop bitching till they send me a new tube that fits right!! or i get my money back..which ever comes first!!!

yea and then drive to new york and let me check out your car and your boost levels cause im not holding very well and i think its from my turboxs hybrid bov...im spiking now at 17 lbs of boost and holding at 15...idk if something is wrong..its pissing me off

1st and second i hold nicely at 15 lbs of boost..third and 4th i spike to 17-17.5 and hold at 15...i dont get it..i thought i would be holding higher

I hold 18-19 psi. I think my boost gauge reads high though :). Tommorow im going to use my scan gauge to monitor boost which I never do.

yea please do...i have a prosport boost gauge also with the obnoxious ear piercing sound lol and i dont get anything that high at all..i dont get it..there is a difference 2-3 pounds of a difference..and we really have similar parts on our cars. except i have the turbo inlet which should of given me a little more boost...idk im confused...on a positive note i love the power i have now lol..

ok i called su today and they are sending me a completely different rear tube free of charge..hopefully that works...i told them just sending me the same tube isnt going to work because of the huge fold i had in the tube..and also complained about people on here having the same issues and should supply a correct tube when sending them out to people with upgraded intercoolers...so we will see what this tube looks like when i get it...prob monday..

I still haven't received my replacement tube from siliconintakes. Will post about that as soon as it arrives.

Nice, I hope they do fix the rear tube. I'll be purchasing a tmic next month!! Still hard to decide which to get between the two

from what i found out..

the difference is that the ets is $565 and the welds arent that great from the pictures..and if you want boost tubes through su they will cost you $90 ets has a core size of 3.25 and inst polished - total is $655

su's tmic is $599 has a better weld and comes with a polished look already which looks nice ...its core size is 3.18 ( a tiny bit smaller ) but you also get a discount on the tubes for $70..total - $669

a difference of $14 bucks - in my opinion i have seen pictures of the ets without the upgraded polished look..and it doesnt look all that good.. but street units tmic looks amazing...both tmic will perform the same in my opinion and regardless of which one you get ...you will be very happy with it

ETS for the win :) Lovin it. Besides who shells out for a NEW tmic anyways. You can get a used ets for cheap from all those bastards parting out their rides and selling off to "upgrade" to sti or evo. Get one of their's for $350-$400 and you're set. Besides, who pops the hood anyways to show off their polished tmic? Are we still living in the fast and the furious era? If you honestly cared that much for the show look, you might as well be buying a front mount then

The FS section isn't exactly chock full of TMICs As for wanting a nice looking engine bay... I don't think that makes you a fast and furious ricer wannabe. Especially if it, as noted, only costs an extra $14

i am glad you understand chico..you spend over $20,000 on a car im gonna care what i put on it and under the hood...and of course i show people...i pop my hood all the time cause people around here who just got there mazda speed3 & 6's wanna know about the intercooler..and of course you want it to look nice.....and for a $14 difference i know what i got...its polished and looks clean and the welding job is amazing.
